Another medium blade. More open toothed than the size #10 blade -just under a 2mm tooth gap.

This blade is identical to the Oster #8.5 in cutting length.

The #8.5 blade is often referred to in grooming circles as a “terrier” blade. It is also a very good blade to select in cases when a longer coat length is desired on the bodywork of the Schnauzer for example, and is very effective on older dogs of this breed where the coat is starting to thin.

If a close finish is needed on the bodywork for a mixed breed this size blade cuts close without denuding the dog. This blade size could also be used for stripping matted coats as opposed to individual hard and tight matts.

The #8.5 blade can be used for various areas of the body on the Brussels Griffon, Cairn Terrier, and Cocker Spaniel (American).

The last of the blades suitable for use with an attachment comb, Sizes from now on have two thick a bottom plate blade for the attachment comb to fit and stay in place.

Note: Comb attachments should only be used on well-groomed coats and not those, which are tangled or matted.
This size blade is regularly used on Spaniels, Terriers, Poodles as well many other breeds, and is often used with an attachment comb.
