| For a number of years Wahl "detachable” blades
have been out of step with Oster "detachable” blades as far as the
cutting depths was concerned. The new range goes some way to addressing
this situation, and is more comprehensive compared to the previous
range. The full effectiveness of the blades will take time to establish
as more groomers try them out.
The newly introduced wide blades certainly look interesting. There
has long been a need for a better range in this area as more "detachable”
blade type machines become involved in horse and cattle clipping.
We wonder whether they are exactly what is required for the specific
horse and cattle requirements, but no doubt time will tell as the
end users report back on the performance.
We find it disappointing that only part of the full range are available,
and that the wide blades will not be here before the end of the
summer according to the latest information we have been given. Not
good enough Mr Wahl!
We are reluctant to attach other than a "nominal” rating due to
the fact that we have been unable to test these blades in sufficient
quantities to draw any meaningful data. However reader should not
draw any underlying conclusions from this - it is purely due to
lack of information from the manufacturer. We understand they have
proved very successful in the USA and so it seems reasonable to
have similar expectations for them in the UK! The recommended retail
prices will certainly be attractive to the grooming fraternity.
