GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
An attractive, well-designed cordless professional small animal and dog groomer's clipper, which although not intended for horses could also be used on certain fine coated breeds who are really nervous about being clipped.

American made, this is a machine which will have an appeal to many mobile groomers, as well as veterinary practices. One major point in its favour is the reasonable cost of acquiring a second battery to give "continuous" clipping.

Good design features incorporating a comfortable shaped handpiece which when fitted with the battery is well balanced and relatively light. Blade attachment is easy to operate, smooth and crisp. Under prolonged use the motor remains cool running, with an acceptable noise level and little vibration. The on/off switch is perfectly placed for easy operation in an emergency.

The machine is supplied with an Andis #10 "Ceramic Edge" blade. The blade consists of a steel comb blade and a ceramic cutter. Ceramic blades are considered to run cooler and stay sharper for a longer period. It should be noted however that there is a "running in" period before these advantages are evident, and therefore you will not notice the benefits immediately.

The charger is easy to operate and incorporates several new features in advanced technology (Sensa-Charge - a unique system that charges the battery to maximum charge every time.) LED lights indicate the state of the battery, and an innovative system allows a "refresh" to condition the battery. Supplied in neat hard carrying case.

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Introduced a few years ago this machine quickly became popular amongst veterinary practices, cattle exhibitors and several horse owners due to its ability to offer "continuous" clipping in a fully cordless mode. This is achieved by the introduction of two re-chargeable batteries each with a clip time of 30 minutes but recharging within 20 minutes. At the time of its introduction there was not a lot to challenge it!

Compact, and sturdy, with a narrow blade in either the Oster or Andis range for almost every conceivable clipping operation, the powerful motor copes with most clipping tasks and allows for complete mobility whether you operate in the veterinary, livestock, horse, or dog grooming fields.

The handling leaves a bit to be desired, especially if you are going to clip over long periods, as it is heavy in relation to its size and not well balanced due to the weight of the battery pack. The on/off switch is not readily accessible being positioned at the rear of the machine.

Horse users in particular will need to rethink the speed at which they clip when using this type of machine or indeed any clipper of the type fitted with "detachable" blades. You do need a relaxed approach to your clipping speed - if not tramlines will soon appear. Short strokes are better than longer ones, and work across the hair as well as with the "grain".

The main reason for this is the choice of wide blades available. Compared to the number for dog grooming the choice is limited, particularly so when dealing with some of the more "hairy" and heavy coated native horse breeds! The Moser 2.3mm - CeraBlade or steel wide blades - are often found to be the best currently available.

When using the "detachable" blade style clippers one should be aware no matter how good they are they are not of the same power as a typical traditional type machines. Invariably one is using this type of clipper because the horse objects for whatever reason to a traditional noisy machine. Seen in this role as an alternative to not clipping or heavy sedation they are extremely valuable and with proper use perform as well as any traditional clipper.

Practical experience as with most clipping of any animal is invaluable! Knowledge is never complete - no matter how experienced the operator!

When doing full body clipping two blades are a wise precaution, just in case one suddenly goes blunt, which in fairness can happen with any make of clipper!

Veterinary practices and horse owners will welcome the "continuous" clip time provided by the twin power pack battery units - assuming you always remember to recharge the flat one!
