GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Considerably lighter than many other cordless machines, they appear innovative and refreshingly slim lined, and as a result are very comfortable to the handle thereby affording effortless clipping. Very quiet, thus ideal for any nervous animals, they would seem particularly suited to clipping horses. Having said that one needs to approach clipping with these type of machine in a more "relaxed" way, and be astute in the blade selection.
Historically rather an unacceptable faults list especially with the charger units. Far too many problems appeared to have been over looked at the factory gate! These are said to have been "sorted." We would trust this to be so but continue to reserve judgement whilst certain faults still persist.
Essentially a dog groomers clipper, but with the elimination of trailing cables, these machines are a popular choice in the horse and show cattle-clipping world as well as with many dog groomers - especially those who are mobile. Since their arrival in the UK over twenty years ago they have had a popular following especially with fat stock cattle exhibitors. Veterinary practices will find the extensive clip time provided by the power pack battery unit welcome.
Laube clippers incorporate the detachable "snap-on" blade technology, which avoids fiddling about aligning the cutter and comb when they have to be screw fixed.

Other than a few problems with the charger unit this model has been one of the best in the Laube range! Other than the angle of the clipper head, it is very similar to the variable speed 505 models. Lighter than many other cordless machines and as a result very comfortable to the handle.
Very quiet, when used at the standard running speed, it is ideal for any nervous animals, thus they are particularly suited to horses. The noise level increases when you switch to the faster speed, however it is still very acceptable when compared to many other traditional cordless machines.
Horse users in particular will need to rethink the speed at which they clip when using this type of machine or indeed any clipper of the type fitted with "detachable" blades. You do need a relaxed approach to your clipping speed - if not tramlines will soon appear. Short strokes are better than longer ones, and work across the hair as well as with the "grain".
The main reason for this is the choice of wide blades available. Compared to the number for dog grooming the choice is limited, particularly so when dealing with some of the more "hairy" and heavy coated native horse breeds! The Moser 2.3mm - CeraBlade or steel wide blades - are often found to be the best currently available.

An evolution of the already popular dog clipper - the Moser Max 45, but in a cordless type mode, with increased power and marketed under the Moser "Horseline" range
This concept of a really lightweight and remarkably powerful cordless machine will have an immediate attraction to many horse owners, especially those with nervous animals.
Moser - noted for prestigious German quality, have excelled in producing an innovative, lightweight and powerful battery pack intended to be worn off a waist belt or slipped into a coat pocket. With a two an a half hour clip time, and the facility of "detachable" blades - thus removing the necessity to tension - this machine will appeal to many.
With many features identical to the already popular Max 45 the clipper encompasses the attractive style of the shaped handpiece, giving a combination of balance and lightness plus all the superior qualities associated with a German built product. The noise level and vibration are especially low, and it has inherited the cool running features of all Moser machines.
The newly launched Cera ceramic coated blade with a longer clipping life is a welcomed introduction, however evidence suggests whilst they work perfectly on most breeds of horses - a few - thick coated cobs and natives - can presents problems!
The ceramic-coated blade is not the same as the pure ceramic blade sets used by some of the dog groomers. This is a steel blade coated with ceramic powder, which as a result give increased performance and is said to stay sharper for longer. Subsequent lapping (sharpening) will wear away the ceramic coating in time, however one still has a very useful steel blade when this happens.

Introduced a few years ago this machine quickly became popular amongst veterinary practices, cattle exhibitors and several horse owners due to its ability to offer "continuous" clipping in a fully cordless mode. This is achieved by the introduction of two re-chargeable batteries each with a clip time of 30 minutes but recharging within 20 minutes. At the time of its introduction there was not a lot to challenge it!
Compact, and sturdy, with a narrow blade in either the Oster or Andis range for almost every conceivable clipping operation, the powerful motor copes with most clipping tasks and allows for complete mobility whether you operate in the veterinary, livestock, horse, or dog grooming fields.
The handling leaves a bit to be desired, especially if you are going to clip over long periods, as it is heavy in relation to its size and not well balanced due to the weight of the battery pack. The on/off switch is not readily accessible being positioned at the rear of the machine.
