| ANDIS AGC single speed electric animal clipper |
| |
|
Made in the USA, and rather identical to the two -speed AGC clipper,
it will no doubt appeal to some dog groomers, although it has to
be pointed out that for a few pounds more they can get the two speed
facility with the additional power. A serious consideration to anybody
in a professional situation! Past experiences tend to lead one to
believe most folk will opt for the two speed, unless some major
difference appears. Cattle exhibitors, veterinarians, and especially
equine owners with nervous horses will surely see the wisdom in
selecting the more powerful option.

| GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION: |
|
Like the AGC two speed this clipper is both well balanced and very
compact and handles well. The powerful motor with a cutting speed
of 2700 strokes per minute is according to the manufacturer, both
cool running and maintenance free, requiring no oiling or greasing
of its internal parts. The clipper has been designed for professional
daily use, and from extensive tests we have carried out certainly
it meets the claims of the manufacturer. A good deal of thought
has been applied to the casing design resulting in an attractive
“slim line” shaped handpiece which has a very pleasant feel and
handles effortlessly in a working capacity. A blade release lever
locks blades in position, and the “on/off switch is readily accessible
to your thumb in case of an emergency.
The AGC model can be used with the full range of detachable Andis
blades, and is fully compatible with the Oster A5 detachable blade
range as well as Wahl and Moser detachable blades. Those with livestock
or larger animals should consider the various makes of “wide” detachable
blades for “full body” clipping.

| VERDICT: |
| As we have stated with other Andis products in
recent years there has been a few problems, and some clipper have
failed to live up to expectations. Both annoying, very costly in return
postage terms to say nothing of the inconvenience and frustration
felt by the consumer to whom it just appears to be nothing more than
another endless string of problems. To give credit however we have
been impressed by the actual grooming parlour tests we have performed
on this model even though short in terms of time.
As to the wisdom of producing two rather similar models with so
little “space” between them especially on cost, we question, Others
have tried it - general one machine loses to the other.
