Manufacturer:

WAHL

Model:

PRO Series Rechargeable

Type:

Rechargeable/main power

Rating:

230v-50Hz

DO NOT!

  • Attempt to work on the machine with it connected to the main power supply.
  • Attempt to clip a wet or perspiring animal.
  • Touch the blades when moving!
  • Switch the machine on with loose or missing blades. (In the interests of safety ensure that both blades are tightly seated.)
  • Over tighten the blades in an attempt to force them to clip.
  • Use if the voltage at your site is different to that on the clipper rating plate.
  • Attempt to take apart or assemble the blades or any part of the clipper over straw, shavings or other materials. Only carry out such tasks on a specified area i.e. table or work bench otherwise essential parts may be lost.
  • Immerse either the machine or cutter head in liquid (oil/diesel/lubricant) of any kind.

TRIMMER INFORMATION:

This appliance can be use as either a cordless unit or direct from the mains power supply

The battery pack does not suffer from “memory” effect.

Removing the blades: Fig 3

Hold the machine firmly in your hand (right or left) with the body casing facing you (You should be able to read the maker’s name!).

Lightly hold the blade (to prevent it falling) with the first index finger and thumb of your other hand.

With the thumb of the hand holding the machine pressed against the teeth of the blades apply reasonable pressure to cause the blade set to "release" back from the trimmer case housing.

The blade should now be fully released from the trimmer.

(this is best practised a few times over something soft such as a cushion rather than a concrete floor!)

Fitting the blades: Fig 2.

Hold the machine firmly in your hand (right or left) with the clipper body casing side ways on to you and at a level, which allows you to look down on the head of the appliance.

Take the blade set in your other hand and noting the upturned “nib” on the inside of the blade tension spring – rest this on the rim of the clipper housing pointing into the small recess immediate beneath the drive crank and two screws either side. Gently ease towards the clipper housing. (It sits there quite positively!)

Once in position - gently snap shut

Your blade is now fitted!

However before you rush to switch on ……

Oil the blades before commencing a test run with the clipper

(When operating for the first time after changing blades the machine should be pointed away from you and/or any animal before switching on to test)

Now test the clipper.

NOTE! Always replace the blade guard when the machine is not in use. It protects the blades!

Tensioning the blades:

One of the joys of the “snap-on” blade is that there is no tension to be carried out!

Oiling:

Oiling of the blades should be carried out at regular intervals during the clipping application. Apply a small quantity of oil on the ends of the blades whilst the trimmer is running (see fig 1)

Use only Wahl clipper Oil or similar light machine oil of good quality.

Charging:

Before use the trimmer must be fully charges. This initial charge takes between 12/15 hours. Once fully charged the trimmer may be used without the cable. When fully charged the minimum clip time is 20 minutes of continuous trimming. Once charged switch to the “O” (off charge) position. Reconnect the clipper to the transformer cable and recharge batteries by connecting the wall plug transformer into any convenient electrical power point. (See fig 4.)

FOR DIRECT PLUG IN OPERATION connect the trimmer to the transformer plug socket and plug the transformer into the power supply. Move the trimmer switch to the “1” (ON) position. (See fig 1)

Routine Maintenance:

Is important and should be carried regularly. Do not conducted maintenance tasks over straw, shavings, or other types of bedding. Preferably use a flat table surface or work bench, otherwise you can risk small parts becoming lost in the process.

Maintenance is minimal with the ProSeries. Check periodically to check the drive crank is not dry and has a small quantity of grease on the surface.

Cleaning:

Cleaning of both the blades and inside of the clipper head should be thoroughly carried out after every clipping session.

Remove the blade set from the clipper head and clean all traces of oil and hair with a small stiff brush and wiped clean with a dry clean cloth. (Cleaning with an airline is ideal if available) When completely free from hair clippings and oil, re oil all working parts within the head and likewise to the blades to prevent any occurrence of rust.

Remember even the smallest spots of rust can have an adverse effect on the cutting performance of the blades - in some cases making clipping impossible.

Renewal of battery unit:

Depending on use the batteries supplied should last for a period of between 3-5 years before replacement is necessary. Replacing the batteries can be undertaken following the simple steps below:

  1. Remove blade assembly from trimmer.
  2. Rotate trimmer to expose screws (these should now face upwards!)
  3. Remove all four screws (2 in the blade housing area, 2 in the lower half of the casing.
  4. Carefully remove lower body casing upwards.
  5. Remove batteries from unit and dispose. (Re-chargeable sealed batteries -these contain Nickel-Metal Hydride.) These batteries MUST be recycled or disposed of correctly!)
  6. Replace with new batteries. Be careful to ensure they are inserted in the opposite positions. The battery on the LHS should have the positive (+) end pointing towards the clipper head. The battery on the RHS should have the positive (+) end pointing down toward the base of the trimmer. (see Fig 6)

Professional servicing & repairs

Should only be undertaken by qualified engineers appointed by the Manufacturer or his distributor

Regular servicing is necessary in accordance with the amount of use of the machine to protect it malfunction and to ensure it is kept in a high state of operational effectiveness. Machine should be serviced well before anticipated use.

Storage:

When not in use, having been thoroughly cleaned and oiled, the machine should be stored in a dry place preferably in your house. Do not leave in tack rooms, stables, damp grooming parlours, cowsheds and milking dairies or similar places

The same should apply to all blades. Keep oiled and dry at all times.
