Manufacturer:

WAHL

Model:

Pet Trimmer

Type:

Dry battery (three)

DO NOT!

  • Try to clip a wet or perspiring animal. Remember this is a very small trimmer - not a "heavy duty" clipper - there is a difference!
  • Leave in reach of children.
  • Immerse either the machine or cutter head in liquid (oil/diesel/lubricant) of any kind.
  • Use the appliance for purposes other than those recommended.
  • Over oil. This appliance requires only an occasional drop whilst in use. DO NOT attempt to oil the motor bearings - these are permanently lubricated
  • Use the appliance with either a damaged comb attachment or broken blade as injury may occur.

TRIMMER INFORMATION:

Body trimming can be done on "small" animals for all large animals (horses) use as a facial trimmer.

Comb out any tangles or matted areas before you start to trim.

To preserve the battery power - switch "off" immediately after use.

Keep appliance dry.

The trimmer will accept comb depth guides. (as supplied)

Removing the blades: Fig 1

TIP! As there are very small parts involved only do this operation in a situation where you cannot lose any of the bits!

Using a fine and small tipped "pozzi-drive type headed screwdriver, unscrew the two blade screws on the comb blade and remove the comb. You will feel the comb "spring up" at you as you release the screws. (Normal) You will also find that often the (smaller) cutter blade is still attached to the comb. (Larger of the two blades) Part the cutter from the comb - but notice how the plastic backing of the comb slots into the metal groove of the comb. (Remember this for assembling!)

Fitting the blades: Fig 1.

To assemble the two blades, first take the cutter (smaller of the two blades) and slot the cutter plastic backing plate into the groove of the sharpened face of the comb - then "centre" it. Now fit the two blades to the clipper head making sure the cutter fits snugly over the "nib" on the clipper "drive assembly plate. You may need to lightly press against the "spring" of the plate. (Normal) The blades should now sit in place on the "nib"! Replace the two screws securely! Job done!

Test the Trimmer before using on your animal.

Oiling:

Occasionally apply a "drop" quantity of oil on the ends of the blades whilst the trimmer is running.

Only WAHL Clipper oil or quality light machine oil should be used. Do not over Oil!

Replacing the battery: Fig 2.

Three AA alkaline batteries operate the trimmer. These are inserted into the trimmer housing having previously removed the battery compartment cover by sliding it off. (See Fig 2) Note the correct position of the battery terminals "+" and "-" This is Important! Can be the difference between working or not.

If you are storing the trimmer for a period of several months it is a good idea to take the battery out to avoid corrosion

Attachment Combs:

Are supplied with the trimmer in two sizes - medium and long cut. Their purpose is to allow a specific depth of hair to be left on the body; they are easily attached by sliding over the comb blade edge. To clean the comb simply brushes off any loose hair. Combs can be washed - but be gentle as they are not of the greatest strength!

To get a closer trim cut "against the lay of the hair" - for a longer trim "go with the flow"

Routine Maintenance:

Virtually nil! However when changing blades or replacing the battery not no do this over straw, shavings, or other types of bedding. Preferably use a flat table surface or work bench, otherwise you can risk small parts becoming lost in the process.

Cleaning:

Cleaning of the blades and inside of the clipper head should be thoroughly carried out after every clipping session to avoid a build up of hair and dirt.

When completely free from hair clippings put "a spot" oil, on the blades to prevent any occurrence of rust.

Remember even the smallest spots of rust can have an adverse effect on the cutting performance of the blades - in some cases making clipping impossible.

Professional servicing & repairs

Should only be undertaken by qualified engineers appointed by the Manufacturer. or his distributor. In view of the low cost factor - Question if service/repairs are valid?

Storage:

When not in use, having been thoroughly cleaned and oiled, the trimmer should be stored in a dry place preferably in your house. Do not leave in tack rooms, stables, damp grooming parlours, cowsheds and dairy parlours or similar places.

The same should apply to all blades. Keep oiled and dry at all times.
