Make:WAHL Model:Multi-cut Clipper also known as the Multi Pet Clip Rating:Mains 230v/10w Electro-magnetic motor DO NOT!Attempt to work on the clipper with it connected to the main power supply. Attempt to clip a wet or perspiring animal. Touch the blades when moving! Switch the machine on with loose or missing blades. (In the interests of safety ensure that both blades are tightly seated.) Push the clipper through the hair in order to force it to clip, rather guide the machine in the direction you want to clip and let the machine do the work Hold the clipper by the cord, nor allow the cord to become twisted. Use if the voltage at your site is different to that on the clipper information data. Attempt to take apart or assemble the blades or any parts of the clipper over straw, shavings or other materials. Only carry out such tasks on a specified area i.e. tables or workbench otherwise essential parts may be lost. Immerse either the machine or cutter head in liquid (oil/diesel/lubricant) of any kind. CLIPPER INFORMATION:The Clipper is British Standards approved and CE rated By adjusting the Power Screw compensation can be made for any variances in line voltage. Do not attempt to operate this machine without first oiling the blades. Do not use WD 40 or other similar solvents/scouring agents to clean the clipper or the blades. Do not attempt to sharpen the blades yourself - they need a special machine. This clipper is designed for domestic pet clipping of a general purpose. For a more professional clip involving a wider range of blades operators should refer to professional dog grooming machine such as the Moser KM1/Moser max 45/Oster A4 Blades need to be regularly sharpened to keep a good cutting edge, and they must be constantly oiled during use. Blades need to be aligned after being fitted and before clipping commences. Removing the blades: (See Fig 1)Ensure that the clipper is not connected to the main power supply, if so, disconnect before attempting to remove the blades Hold the machine firmly in your hand (right or left) with the maker's name facing you. (WAHL USA Animal Grooming or "Clip Pet Deluxe" as on older models.) Now rotate the body casing 180 degrees until you are viewing the underside of the clipper. With the blade adjustment lever in a forward position (Fine cut position - lever positioned toward the front/top of the clipper) the lower blade (comb) (See fig 1) will be observed to have two screws situated either side of the wording "WAHL USA 30-15-10. (30-15-10 indicates the type of blade fitted, and which happens to be the blade fitted on all new machines at the point of sale.) Taking a screwdriver with + style tip unscrew each and put the screws to one side for safekeeping. Now carefully remove the comb together with the small blade known as the "cutter". Do not remover the "foam pad" which acts as a barrier against hair entering into the blade drive mechanism. Blade removal is best practised a few times over something soft such as a cushion rather than a concrete floor!) Fitting the blades: (See fig 2)
With the blade adjustment lever in a forward position (Fine cut position - lever positioned toward the front/top of the clipper) take the upper blade plate (smaller of the pair) known as the cutter and position it to fit snugly over the nylon nib. The "ground" surface of the blade should be facing you. Next position the larger blade (comb) so that it lines up with the two blade screw holes and refit both screws. DO NOT at this stage tighten finally! Now rotate the body casing 180 degrees until you are viewing the upside of the clipper and check the alignment of the two blades. Every time blades are removed either for cleaning or replacement they require to be realigned. The two screw holes in the comb (bottom blade) are larger than the actual screw threads, which allow for the blade to be aligned to the cutter (smaller blade) without having to totally unscrew the screws. The purpose of aligning the two blades is to create a small gap between
the cutting tips of the teeth of both the comb and cutter. This gap should
be between 0.79mm to 1.54mm back from the bottom blade. This is important to
ensure that the clipper does not cut too close or allow the moving cutter
blade to touch the skin. The extreme left-hand tooth of the cutter must be
covering or to the left of the first smaller tooth of the comb.
Oil the blades before commencing a test run with the clipper (When operating for the first time after changing blades the machine should be pointed away from you and/or any animal before switching on to test.) Now test the clipper. Adjustable Blade lever:The Multi Cut Clipper is fitted with an adjustable blade lever, and is
supplied as new with a #30 - #15 - #10 blade set. This allows the operator
to pre-set the blades in three different positions to give the following
cuts: - Fine #30, Medium #15 and Standard or coarser cut #10.
Other blades are available for this machine, they include a surgical blades set #40 - #30 for a closer finish. The blade set #9 - #8.5 - #8 allows for a coarser clip (useful for clipping terriers) and there is a useful "paw" blade for doing in between the feet. Oiling:Oiling of the blades should be carried out before commencing clipping, at regular intervals during the clipping application, and after clipping they need to be both cleaned and oiled before putting away.. Apply a small quantity of oil on the ends of the blades whilst the clipper is running. Only use clipper oil or light machine oil of good quality Attachment Combs:Four combs are supplied with the clipper. Their purpose is to allow a specific depth of hair to be left on the body irrespective of the angle you may clip. They are easily attached by clipping over the blade from front to back. Stainless steel attachment combs are also available. These are said to be an improved version of attachment comb allowing increased penetration of the coat even in matted situations, and improved cutting performance. Before attaching combs the clipper should be switched "off" to prevent accidental damage to the blades when fitting combs. Blade comb attachment should be fitted with the blade adjustment lever in the "fine" position. ((See fig 4) Holding the blade attachment comb in the palm of your left hand point the blade tip of the clipper into the teeth of the attachment comb and snap the clip at the rear of the comb onto the rear of the blade. Make sure the attachment comb is installed correctly before operating the appliance. Blades can be damaged if attachment combs are allowed to enter the operating clipper blade teeth. To remove the attachment comb, having stopped the clipper first, simply pivot away from the blade teeth Clipping is generally done "with the grain" or in keeping with the natural flow of the hair on both the body and legs. Clipping "against the grain" - that is with the clipper blades clipping into the hair flow - will in most cases result in a 50% closer cut, and is a popular method for clipping areas such as the throat, face, feet and tail Routine Maintenance:BEFORE carrying out any work on the clipper first disconnect from the mains power supply Is important and should be carried regularly. Do not conducted maintenance tasks over straw, shavings, or other types of bedding. Preferably use a flat table surface or work bench, otherwise you can risk small parts becoming lost in the process. Cleaning:BEFORE carrying out any work on the clipper first disconnect from the mains power supply Cleaning of the blades and inside of the clipper head (See fig 2) should be thoroughly carried out after every clipping session to avoid a build up of hair and dirt. Remove all traces of oil and hair with a small stiff brush and wiped clean with a dry clean cloth. The use of an airline is ideal - if available. Failing that, use a small oil paint brush – the stubby type – This will enable you to remove most of the muck, after which a good “blow” will usually do the rest! Try to avoid a build up of dirt and hair – it makes cleaning easier! When completely free from hair clippings and oil, re oil all working parts within the head and likewise to the blades to prevent any occurrence of rust. Remember even the smallest spots of rust can have an adverse effect on the cutting performance of the blades - in some cases making clipping impossible. Professional Servicing & RepairsShould only be undertaken by qualified engineers appointed by the Manufacturer or his distributor. Regular servicing is necessary in accordance with the amount of use of the machine to protect it malfunction and to ensure it is kept in a high state of operational effectiveness. Machine should be serviced well before anticipated use. Storage:When not in use, having been thoroughly cleaned and oiled, the machine should be stored in a dry place preferably in your house. Do not leave in tack rooms, stables, damp grooming parlours, cowsheds and dairy parlours or similar places. The same should apply to all blades. Keep oiled and dry at all times.
