DO NOT!

  • Attempt to work on the machine whilst it is connected to the main power supply. This includes cleaning the trimmer head!
  • Attempt to clip a wet or perspiring animal.
  • Leave the trimmer connected to the power supply except when charging it.
  • Leave in reach of children.
  • Immerse either the machine or cutter head in liquid (oil/diesel/lubricant) of any kind.
  • Operate the appliance where aerosol spray products are in use, where oxygen is being administered, or near flammable liquids, such as certain flammable blade lubricants or cleaning fluids.
  • Leave the appliance unattended when plugged in to the power supply.
  • Use the appliance for purposes other than those recommended.
  • Use the appliance if it has a damaged cable or plug, if it is not working properly, or has been dropped or in any way damaged. Arrange for it to be checked by a qualified engineer and repaired as necessary.
  • Use the appliance with either a damaged comb attachment or broken blade as injury may occur.

IMPORTANT!

The battery pack contains Nickel Cadmium batteries. In the interest of environmental protection, do not dispose in with domestic refuse at the end of their service life. The battery should be disposed of at a corresponding collection point,

TRIMMER INFORMATION:

The trimmer is insulated and radio interference-suppressed.

Connect to AC only.

Supplied with two-battery pack for continuous use.

Keep second battery pack charged.

When the appliance is switch “on” a red indicator light in the lower part of the body casing will be seen to flash indication it is ready for use.

Removing the blades: (Fig 1)

Before removing the blade head ensure the appliance is switched off and disconnected from any power supply. i.e. charger

Hold the machine firmly in your hand (right or left) with the body casing facing you (You should be able to read the maker’s name!).

Lightly hold the blade (to prevent it falling) with the first index finger and thumb of your other hand.

With the thumb of the hand holding the machine pressed against the teeth of the blades apply reasonable pressure to cause the blade set to release back from the trimmer case housing.

The blade should now be fully released from the trimmer. (this is best practised a few times over something soft such as a cushion rather than a concrete floor!)

Fitting the blades: Fig 2.

Hold the machine firmly in your hand (right or left) with the body casing facing you (You should be able to read the maker’s name!

Take the blade set in your other hand and noting the upturned “arrow shaped nib” on the inside of the blade housing– insert this into the small recess immediate beneath the drive crank and two screws either side. Once in position - gently snap shut. (See Fig 2a)

Your blade is now fitted!

However before you rush to switch on ……

Oil the blades before commencing a test run with the clipper.

(When operating for the first time after changing blades the machine should be pointed away from you and/or any animal before switching on to test)

Now test the clipper.

Tensioning the blades:

One of the joys of the “snap-on” blade is that there is no tension to be carried out!

Oiling:

Oiling of the blades should be carried out at regular intervals during the clipping application. Apply a small quantity of oil on the ends of the blades whilst the trimmer is running.

Only Wahl Clipper oil or light machine oil of good quality should be used.

Charging:

Before use the trimmer must be fully charges. This charge takes between 1 hour. When fully charged the clip time is about 45 minutes subject to normal conditions.

Connect the charger unit power plug into any convenient electrical power point of suitable rating in accordance with the Manufacturer’s instructions.

Remove the battery pack from the trimmer by gently squeezing the two red release tabs either side of the handpiece and insert the same into the recess of the charger - at this point the red indicator light will come on. When the charging process is completed the red light will flash. (See Fig 3)

Once fully charged remove the battery pack from the charger and insert into the trimmer until it engages right home (you hear a slight “click”.)

Recharging is only necessary when the red indicator lamp lights up. Do not charge the battery pack as long as the capacity has not run low.

Attachment Combs:

Are supplied with the trimmer in various sizes. Their purpose is to allow a specific depth of hair to be left on the body irrespective of the angle you may clip. They are easily attached by clipping into to plastic lugs either side of the trimmer head and fit snugly over the comb blade edge.

The normal cutting length of the trimmer without the slide on comb attachment is 0.1mm by sliding the adjuster slide back or forward. The cutting length can be adjusted into 5 positions, and the length of a cut can be varied between 0.1 and 3mm.

Routine Maintenance:

Is important and should be carried regularly. Do not conducted maintenance tasks over straw, shavings, or other types of bedding. Preferably use a flat table surface or work bench, otherwise you can risk small parts becoming lost in the process.

Maintenance is minimal with the D9 Trimmer. Check periodically to check the drive crank is not dry and has a small quantity of grease on the surface. (See Fig.2)

Cleaning:

Cleaning of the blades and inside of the clipper head should be thoroughly carried out after every clipping session to avoid a build up of hair and dirt.

Remove all traces of oil and hair with a small stiff brush and wiped clean with a dry clean cloth. Cleaning the blade head is slightly more difficult due to its complexity. The use of an airline is ideal - if available. Failing that, use a small oil paint brush – the stubby type – This will enable you to remove most of the muck, after which a good “blow” will usually do the rest! Try to avoid a build up of dirt and hair – it makes cleaning easier!

When completely free from hair clippings and oil, re oil all working parts within the head and likewise to the blades to prevent any occurrence of rust.

Remember even the smallest spots of rust can have an adverse effect on the cutting performance of the blades - in some cases making clipping impossible.

Renewal of battery unit:

Depending on use the batteries supplied should last for a minimum of 2 years before replacement is necessary. Replacement batteries can be obtained easily (part no KM1854/7631)

Professional servicing & repairs

Should only be undertaken by qualified engineers appointed by the Manufacturer or his distributor.

Regular servicing is necessary in accordance with the amount of use of the machine to protect it from malfunction and to ensure it is kept in a high state of operational effectiveness. Machines should be serviced well before anticipated use.

Storage:

When not in use, having been thoroughly cleaned and oiled, the machine should be stored in a dry place preferably in your house. Do not leave in tack rooms, stables, damp grooming parlours, cowsheds and dairy parlours or similar places

The same should apply to all blades. Keep oiled and dry at all times.
