Manufacturer:Model:D5 (TYPE 1852) Type:Rechargeable cordless Rating:230v-50Hz
DO NOT!
IMPORTANT!The battery pack contains Nickel Cadmium rechargeable batteries. In the interest of environmental protection, do not dispose in with domestic refuse at the end of their service life. The battery should be disposed of at a corresponding collection point, TRIMMER INFORMATION:The trimmer is insulated and radio interference-suppressed. Connect only to an AC power supply of the voltage recommended. When the appliance is switch “on” a red indicator light in the lower part of the body casing will be seen to flash indication it is ready for use. The trimmer has a built in cutting length adjustment lever. The trimmer will accept comb depth guides. Removing the blades: Fig 1- 4
Fitting the blades: Fig 4.To assemble the two blades, first take the cutter (smaller of the two blades) and slot the white plastic groove over the crank spindle. It can be a fiddle but it will slot in eventually. Note that the cutter is usually off centre by up to 2cm toward the LHS (facing the blade face) and gives a uniform flat surface once in position. Before you fit the comb make sure the “adjustable slide lever” is positioned “forward” in the “min” position slot – this brings the screw holes into the right position for fitting the screws into. Now take the comb (on the inner side of the comb you will see a recess grove - this must “cap” the “spring clip” referred to above. (Removing the blades) (See Fig 2) The best way to tackle this is to slide the blade across the “spring clip” from the LHS – when engaged, push slightly down to “bed” home and centre it over the two screw holes before inserting both screws and lightly tightening. Be careful not to “cant” (put them in at an angle) the screws when replacing them otherwise you may damage the screw threads. NB. You know when it is correct because the comb stay seated in position without the use of the screws! This can be a bit tricky as you discover and is worth practising before you need to do it for real! Your blade is now fitted. Before tighten the screws finally however…… just check that the adjustable slide lever works smoothly and that the blades are correctly aligned. (See aligning the blades below) and before you rush to switch on…… Oil the blades before commencing a test run with the clipper (When operating for the first time after changing blades the machine should be pointed away from you and/or any animal before switching on to test.) Now test the clipper. Aligning the blades:After fitting the blades you should check the blade alignment before commencing to use the trimmer. Before tightening the blade screws align the comb to give a clearance of 0.5mm between the front edge of the comb and cutter when the minimum cutting length is set. This clearance should be borne in mind when the comb is removed for through cleaning and secured firmly back in place. Oiling:Oiling of the blades should be carried out at regular intervals during the clipping application. Apply a small quantity of oil on the ends of the blades whilst the trimmer is running. Only WAHL Clipper oil or quality light machine oil should be used. Charging:Before use the trimmer must be fully charges. This charge takes about 1 hour. Connect the charger unit power plug into any convenient electrical power point of suitable rating in accordance with the Manufacturer’s instructions. Place the trimmer in the charging cradle – having first ensuring that the
contact points are clean and free of any oil residue – if dirty this will
effect the charging. (See Fig 5)
Recharging is only necessary when there is a noticeable reduction in power output. The unit can be left on charge without risk of overcharging damage to the battery. Attachment Combs:Are supplied with the trimmer in various sizes. Their purpose is to allow a specific depth of hair to be left on the body; they are easily attached by sliding over the comb blade edge. The normal cutting length of the trimmer without the slide on comb attachment is 0.1mm by sliding the adjuster slide back or forward, the length of a cut can be varied between 0.1 and 3mm. Routine Maintenance:Is important and should be carried regularly. Do not conducted maintenance tasks over straw, shavings, or other types of bedding. Preferably use a flat table surface or work bench, otherwise you can risk small parts becoming lost in the process. Maintenance is minimal with the D5 Trimmer. Check periodically to check the drive crank is not dry and has a small quantity of grease on the surface. (See Fig.3) Also ensure the contact points of the trimmer are always kept clean to provide a good charge contact.(See Fig 5) Cleaning:Cleaning of the blades and inside of the clipper head should be thoroughly carried out after every clipping session to avoid a build up of hair and dirt. Remove all traces of oil and hair with a small stiff brush and wiped clean with a dry clean cloth. The use of an airline is ideal - if available. Failing that, use a small oil paint brush – the stubby type – This will enable you to remove most of the muck, after which a good “blow” will usually do the rest! Try to avoid a build up of dirt and hair – it makes cleaning easier! When completely free from hair clippings and oil, re oil all working parts within the head and likewise to the blades to prevent any occurrence of rust. Remember even the smallest spots of rust can have an adverse effect on the cutting performance of the blades - in some cases making clipping impossible. Renewal of Battery unit:Depending on use the batteries supplied should last for a minimum of 2 years before replacement is necessary. Replacement batteries can be obtained easily.
