Trimmer - not quoted.

DO NOT!

  • Attempt to work on the machine with it connected to the main power supply via the charger
  • Attempt to clip a wet or perspiring animal.
  • Touch the blades when moving!
  • Use the trimmer continuously with the charger connected - only for emergencies
  • Switch the machine on with loose or missing blades.
  • (In the interests of safety ensure that both blades are tightly seated.)
  • Over tighten the blades in an attempt to force them to clip.
  • Use if the voltage at your site is different to that on the clipper rating plate.
  • Attempt to take the blades or any part of the clipper apart over straw, shavings or other materials. Only carry out such tasks on a specified area i.e. tables or workbench otherwise essential parts may be lost.
  • Immerse either the machine or cutter head in liquid (oil/diesel/lubricant) of any kind.

Removing the blades:

Hold the machine firmly in your hand (right or left) with the body casing facing you (You should be able to read the maker’s name!). Lightly hold the blade (to prevent it falling) with the first index finger and thumb of your other hand. With the thumb of the hand holding the machine pressed against the teeth of the blades apply reasonable pressure to cause the blade set to "release" back from the trimmer case housing. The blade should now be fully released from the trimmer. (this is best practised a few times over something soft such as a cushion rather than a concrete floor!)

Fitting the blades: Fig 1.

Before fitting blades make sure they are clean with no dirt or hair present on the cutting surfaces. Hold the machine firmly in your hand (right or left) with the clipper body casing side ways on to you and at a level, which allows you to look down on the head of the appliance. Take the blade set in your other hand and noting the upturned “nib” on the inside of the blade tension spring – rest this on the rim of the clipper housing pointing into the small recess immediate beneath the drive crank and two screws either side. Gently ease towards the clipper housing. (It sits there quite positively!)

Once in position - gently snap shut. Your blade is now fitted!

However before you rush to switch on:- Oil the blades before commencing a test run with the clipper. (When operating for the first time after changing blades the machine should be pointed away from you and/or any animal before switching on to test) Now test the Trimmer.

Tensioning the blades:

One of the joys of the “snap-on” blade system is that there is no tensioning to be carried out!

Oiling:

Oiling of the blades should be carried out at regular intervals during the clipping application. Apply a small quantity of oil on the ends of the blades whilst the trimmer is running. Use only light machine oil of good quality.

Charging:

Before use the trimmer must be fully charged. This initial charge takes between 10/12hours. Normal charge time is 8/9 hours. Put the switch of the trimmer in the "OFF" position and connect to the charger. Keep the "contact points " of the trimmer clean and free of foreign material. (See figure 1) Once fully charged the trimmer may be used without the cable. When fully charged the minimum clip time is 45 minutes of continuous trimming.

The battery should not be charged in temperatures between 0 degrees centigrade or higher than 40 degrees centigrade.

NOTE! When used on AC current through the charger/transformer, wait for two minutes after plugging in the appliance BEFORE you start using the trimmer

DO NOT use the trimmer continuously with the charger connected - only for emergencies

Routine Maintenance:

Is important and should be carried regularly.  Do not conducted maintenance tasks over straw, shavings, or other types of bedding. Preferably use a flat table surface or work bench, otherwise you can risk small parts becoming lost in the process. Maintenance is minimal with the Meteor Check periodically to check the drive crank is not dry and has a small quantity of grease on the surface.

Cleaning:

Cleaning of both the blades and inside of the trimmer head should be thoroughly carried out after every clipping session.

Remove the blade set from the trimmer head and clean all traces of oil and hair with a small stiff brush and wiped clean with a dry clean cloth. (Cleaning with an airline is ideal if available)  When completely free from hair clippings and oil, re oil all working parts within the head and likewise to the blades to prevent any occurrence of rust.

Remember even the smallest spots of rust can have an adverse effect on the cutting performance of the blades - in some cases making clipping impossible.

The snap-on blade can be taken apart by unscrewing the two screws located on the clipping face of the blade. Exercise care when the taking blades apart as the small parts can be easily lost. Always keep your blades clean, free from both dirt and rust. The trimmer may not cut effectively if hair or dirt gets between the blades. Remember blades can go blunt at a moment's notice due to high levels of dirt and grit with the animal's coat especially during the first clips of the season. Note: Blades must be sharpened as matched sets.

ALWAYS HAVE A SECOND OR SPARE SET OF BLADES AVAILABLE BEFORE YOU START CLIPPING!

Storage:

When not in use, having been thoroughly cleaned and oiled, the machine should be stored in a dry place preferably in your house. Do not leave in tack rooms or stables. The same should apply to all blades.

Additional Information:

Attachment combs are supplied with the trimmer, these allow for leaving a greater depth of hair than would be otherwise left by the blades alone.

  • Comb 1 - 2mm
  • Comb 2 - 5mm
  • Comb 3 - 7mm
  • Comb 4 - 15 mm
