Manufacturer:LISCOP Model:Equi-Clip Cordless 1600 Rating:DC 7,2 V 1700mA. DO NOT!
Removing and fitting the blades:Make sure both blades to be used are clean with no dirt or hair present on the cutting surfaces (which are the two "ground" surfaces). Before fitting blades loosen the tension nut - also sometimes called the
"regulating nut" and remove any existing blades present. (It is important to
loosen the tension nut otherwise it can affect the correct tensioning later
and the resulting success of the clip.) Refer to the clipper diagram for
location.
Turn the machine 180 degrees for comfortable working position. Using the spanner provided (you can also use a broad based screwdriver) undo the two blade screws (Fig 1) and then remove the comb blade followed by the small blade - the cutter. Notice how this is seated on to prominent "nibs which are located either side of the "carrier bar", For cleaning purposes you may wish raise the "carrier bar" (Fig 1) off the drive block (but first you will need to undo the two fixing screws. (Fig 1) To refit the blades reverse the procedure starting with the positioning of the smaller "cutter" blade seating it on the two "nibs" earlier referred to. Next, replace the comb blade (larger of the two blades) and position tight back to the metal mounting. Insert both blade screws and tighten sufficiently at this stage just to hold the blades in place. Do not tighten down finally until you are satisfied both blades are correctly positioned. Tensioning the blades:To adjust the plate (blade) pressure (known as tensioning the blades) the machine should be running and pointed away from you and/or any animal for safety. Gradually slacken the tension nut (see Clipper diagram) until the upper cutter plate (cutter) is no longer exerting pressure on the lower cutter plate (comb) You will note a change of pitch in the sound of the motor. (Blade clatter) This indicates that the blades are two loose. Now tighten the tension nut until you feel slight resistance, this will indicated the motor is starting to labour. Between the two points - “chattering blades” and the start of the “motor labouring” will be found the correct clipping tension. Usually as a guide one full turn is sufficient, but this can depend on the age and life of the blades. If for some reason the machine fails to clip smoothly it is highly likely you have not correctly adjusted the tensioning. Adjustment should be in small amounts. Increase/decrease the tension nut by no more than 1/4 turns (or less) at a time to achieve optimum cutting. In most cases failure to clip correctly is operator orientated rather than a fault with the machine. Practice is valuable! You may need to adjust the tension during the clip - this has nothing to do with any fault on the part of the clipper, rather a change in texture of the coat being clipped. (Sheep folk do it all the time!) Avoid setting the pressure on the cutter plate too high (tightening the tension nut to much!) as this can lead to excessive heat build up and will rapidly cause the blades to overheat and become blunt. Keep blades well oiled at all times! Do please remember that any blades can go blunt at a moment’s notice due to high levels of dirt and grit within any animal’s coat but especially in the case of horses during the first clip of the season. In the case of even the best groomed horses unless they have previously been washed there is likely to be a considerable build up of particles of grit and dust which can cause blade failure (on any type of blades!) very quickly. Oiling:Oiling of the blades should be carried out at regular intervals during the clipping application. It is most important to ensure that the upper plate (cutter) is kept constantly oiled and not allowed to dry out as this will lead to overheating of the blades, which will quickly impair the cutting performance. Also make sure you do not over look regularly oiling the clipper head mechanism via the oiling point in the head (See clipper diagram) Use only light machine oil of good quality. Do not use sewing machine oil, bone or other oil. DO NOT use WD40 ever Battery & Charger Unit:The battery is removed from the clipper handpiece casing by releasing the
black spring clip with your thumb. (See clipper diagram) Now you should be
able to gently pull away from the appliance casing the battery pack unit.
Check to see that the battery contact points and the inside of the battery housing on the clipper casing (See Fig 2) are clean and free of any oil or grease to ensure a good contact when (a) charging and (b) clipping. IMPORTANT! It is important to ensure the battery pack is FULLY discharged before you recharge it! You will see the clipper slows noticeably as the battery discharges. To discharge run the appliance until any remaining charge is discharged fully. When charging a new battery or recharging a battery, which has not been used for some time, it is usual for it not always to accept a full charge on the first occasion. This is quite normal due to the technology of the battery design and construction. This is not a fault with your battery. The battery pack can be fully recharged again after it has been fully discharged. Charging:The charger (see Fig 3)
Use the charger only for the purposes of charging the power pack. Non function of charger lights:If the red light on the charger (see Fig 3) fails to be illuminated the battery pack is not charging. This may be due to a number of reasons other than battery or charger malfunction. Check the battery to see the contact points are dry and clean. Check the charger to see no foreign matter has entered the battery charge recess. If the battery has been exposed to direct sunlight or has in some way become overheated after an operation this can cause the red charger light to fail to come on. In this case allow the battery pack to cool before attempting to try to recharge. If all of these things fail you need to contact your supplier for qualified assistance. After completing the charging processes unplug the charger from the mains power supply. The charger should be always kept clean and dry and at all time - well away from any contact with rain or any other liquids, including urine splashes. Do not use solvents to clean the charger - a wet soft cloth is adequate - dry thoroughly.
