Make:ANDIS Model:AGR + Cordless Rating:Cordless 230v/40w Rotation rate:3600 cutting strokes per minute DO NOT!
CLIPPER INFORMATION:The Clipper & Charger units conform to CE regulations. Do not attempt to operate this machine without first oiling the blades. Do not use WD 40 or other similar solvents/scouring agents to clean the clipper or the blades. Do not attempt to sharpen the blades yourself - they need a special machine. A wide range of “snap-on” or detachable blades in addition to all Andis blades can be fitted to this clipper. These including the Oster A 5 range and those made by Wahl/Moser as well as other similar “detachable or snap-on” type blades. The “snap-on” or "detachable" type of blades should not be taken apart other than for sharpening purposes at the place of sharpening. Blades need to be regularly sharpened to keep a good cutting edge, and they must be constantly oiled during use. Removing the blades:Hold the machine firmly in your hand (right or left) with the maker's name facing you. (Super AGR+ andis.) Now rotate the body casing 180 degrees until you are viewing the underside of the clipper. (See Clipper diagram)
The blade set should now be fully removed from the clipper. (This is best practised a few times over something soft such as a cushion rather than a concrete floor whilst you develop the knack!) Fitting the blades:Before fitting blades always check that the detachable blade set has both fixing screws in place and that they are both firm! It is not unusual for the screws of some blades to work loose and subsequently fall out and get lost. DO NOT use a blade with only one screw fitted. Replace missing screw before using. Check screws regularly and especially after re-sharpening.
Take the blade set in your other hand and seat it upon the blade tongue latch assembly, which will slide between the comb blade plate and the tension spring assembly. (See fig 2) NOTE: If the blade latch tongue has for some reason snapped
shut against the latch assembly you will not be able to fit the blade. All
you need to do to rectify this is to insert a flat object (thin screwdriver
– or best quality kitchen knife!)
With the blade seated on the tongue and held in place with the fingers of your other hand, press the upper portion of the blade towards the clipper body - it should “snap” shut. This can and should be done with the motor running and will not effect the performance of the clipper. Check the blade is right home to the clipper casing - a gap of between 1˝ - 2 mm is normal. The blade is now fitted! In some cases especially with new blades/machines, the blade may requires a further degree of pressure to make sure it is right home to the casing This soon ceases once the blades have been used a few times. However before you rush to switch on. Oil the blades before commencing a test run with the clipper (See clipper diagram) (When operating for the first time after changing blades the machine should be pointed away from you and/or any animal before switching on to test.) Now test the clipper. Tensioning the blades:One of the joys of the “snap-on” or detachable blade is that there is no tensioning to be carried out! However some blades, especially those of other manufacturers, may in certain instances need adjustment. In a normal situation you should be able to move the cutter blade backwards and forwards using your fingers with moderate pressure within the "tension spring" hold. Do not undo the blade screws as this will affect the blade alignment and may cause the blade to jam and not cut.
The Switch locking facility:
The Battery Pack:The heavy-duty battery pack is designed to be removed from the clipper housing for the purposes of re-charging. You can also re-charge the battery with it still attached to the clipper hand piece. To remove the battery from the handpiece simply depress the button immediately beneath the “on/off” switch. (see clipper diagram) The battery can now be gently pulled apart. When connecting the battery pack to the clipper housing ensure that it is pushed well home - you will see the button “depress” before returning to its normal position. There should be no gap between the battery pack and the clipper handpiece casing - this will ensure the correct contact. When fully charged the battery unit should provide one hour of continuous clip time. Re-charging fully takes from between 45 and 60 minutes. Modern battery packs may take 4/5 periods of re-charge before they hold a full charge - this is normal Keep the battery pack unit dry and clean. Do not damage the four terminals. Ensure they are free from dirt, grease or other foreign matter as this can effect the recharge capability of the battery unit The Charger Unit:
The charger is fitted with “Sensa Charge” This is a unique system designed to ensure that the battery unit is charged to its maximum performance level every time it is re-charged. The system of LED lights indicate the mode of charge and are as follows:- A continuous GREEN light indicates that a “fast” charge is in progress. A FAST FLASHING GREEN light indicates that charging is now complete. A SLOWER FLASHING GREEN light indicates “refresh” A SLOW FLASHING GREEN light indicates “charge preparation.” A RED LIGHT indicates “Charge standby” (Analysing battery) To charge the battery it should be inserted into the recess provided. As a guide a normal period for re-charge is approx. 1hr (The time taken to fully charge the battery may vary slightly dependant upon the condition and age of the battery pack and the degree of charge still remaining.) A facility to “refresh the battery” is built into the charger and it is recommend that batteries are “refreshed” monthly. Always allow a minimum of 10 minutes between charging batteries, as the charges need to cool. During the charging process an internal fan will keep the charger cool. It is unwise to attempt to open the charger unit, and may invalidate any guarantee contract. Should it be necessary to inspect the inner parts of the charger, this should be done only by a qualified engineer or at an approved service centre. Oiling:Oiling of the blades is most important Oiling of blades should be done before the commencement of clipping, and at frequent intervals during the clipping application. Finally oil again when the blades have been thoroughly cleaned and prior to putting away. DO NOT at any time use WD 40 unless you want to get rapidly blunt blades! Many spray lubricants are great for cooling blades, but not so hot on the job of lubrication. Only clipper oil of good quality should be used. You don't need a lot of oil but you do need to oil frequently! Any excess oil can be wiped off with a soft cloth. Notice if at any time your blades display streaking or if the clipper power appears to drop. Both are indications that an immediate application of oil is necessary Attachment Combs:Are not supplied with the clipper but can be obtained in various sizes. Their purpose is to allow a specific depth of hair to be left on the body irrespective of the angle you may clip. They are easily attached by clipping over the blade from front to back. Routine Maintenance:Is important and should be carried regularly. Do not conducted maintenance tasks over straw, shavings, or other types of bedding. Preferably use a flat table surface or work bench, otherwise you can risk small parts becoming lost in the process. With a newly designed, cool running, long life and sealed motor one would expect the maintenance to be minimal. Blade drive assembly replacement:
Cleaning:Cleaning of the blades and inside of the clipper head should be thoroughly carried out after every clipping session to avoid a build up of hair and dirt. Remove the drive cap as surprisingly large amounts of hair collect here! Remove all traces of oil and hair with a small stiff brush and wiped clean with a dry clean cloth. The use of an airline is ideal - if available. Groomers with blaster type dryers will find these are highly effective! Failing that, use a small oil paint brush – the stubby type – This will enable you to remove most of the muck, after which a good “blow” will usually do the rest! Try to avoid a build up of dirt and hair – it makes cleaning easier! When completely free from hair clippings and oil, re oil all working parts within the head and likewise to the blades to prevent any occurrence of rust.
Professional Servicing & RepairsShould only be undertaken by qualified engineers appointed by the Manufacturer or his distributor. Regular servicing is necessary in accordance with the amount of use of
the machine to protect it malfunction and t Storage:When not in use, having been thoroughly cleaned and oiled, the machine should be stored in a dry place preferably in your house. Do not leave in tack rooms, stables, damp grooming parlours, cowsheds and dairy parlours or similar places The same should apply to all blades. Keep oiled and dry at all times.
