- You will need to know how to align the blades correctly. Detachable blades would have given greater scope. Rear positioned on/off switch. An expensive "clone" dressed up with a ceramic "coated" blade!
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Marketed under the Moser "Horseline" brand and targeted for the equine market this is a quality German made trimmer, quiet, lightweight, and comfortable to use.
Whilst this machine is normally aimed at the horse market, the Askar will work perfectly on many dog breeds, and with the addition of the ceramic blade if you are prepared to pay the extra it has many merits to warrant purchasing.
Whilst we feel sure it will equal, if not out perform, the Moser "Rex" it is little more than a "clone" of the now a rather "seasoned" but never the less highly popular "Rex" trimmer. The Rex Moser has always been highly popular with horse owners, who have achieved incredible degrees of clipping including even full body clips! No doubt if the price does not put customers off so will the Askar.
A side lever provides a variable multi click cutting length adjustment with five locked positions from 0.01mm-3mm, which increase the scope of the machine. The low noise level makes it particularly suitable for work in sensitive areas. The on/off switch is not in one of the best positions for rapid response in an emergency.
Whilst the introduction of the CeraBlade - ceramic powder coated with its greater and long lasting clipping powers is welcomed, we would have thought a major improvement would have to incorporated "detachable" blade facilities which would have then given greater operational scope in other fields. Surely the days of the "screw fix" blade, on this type and price of trimmer is at an end, and the way ahead is to provide "detachable" blades facilities as standard.
With screw fix blades it is important to get the alignment of the blade correct when fitting so reading the instructions is important.
Meanwhile - a nice machine with all the usual good Moser qualities, but it is not going to score too many points for "innovation!"

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
German made, lightweight, and comfortable to use. It is extremely quiet, and has an ultra strong oscillating armature drive for continuous operation. Does not overheat with prolonged use. Very suitable for use on any nervous animal/s.
For over two decades this very popular and highly reliable trimmer has stood the test of time, during which it has built a reputation for reliability. Over the years the Rex Moser has developed a strong market with many horse owners, some of who do various body clipping tasks for which it was never intended. Makes the ideal "companion" trimmer to any large full body machine, and is perfect for horse's facial clipping, for ears, certain leg work, and general tidying up tasks.
When fitting the blades, either new or when cleaning, it is important to have the adjustable lever in the correct position, so therefore do read the instruction. If the position and the alignment of the blades are not correct, clipping problems will arise!
The side positioned 5 stop adjustable lever regulates the depth of cut from 0.01 to 3mm, which offers allows a number of operational tasks to be performed. An ideal trimmer for use on dairy cattle for udders, heads faces and legs. Can be used on a number of domestic pets such as cats and dogs where specialist blades are not needed.
Suitable for rabbits for performing clipping for hygiene work or for a variety of veterinary purposes, and where clipping and/or trimming of a husbandry nature is required.

- Rather extravagant text and pictures on the packaging rather suggest this -machine is capable of rather more than it would be comfortable with! Whilst being versatile it does have its limitations!
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Smart little "trimmer" rather than a true "clipper" plucked from the ranks of the human hair clipper sector, and which if seen in that contents then it will admirably fulfil expectations. Good for the task of cleaning up the family dog or for light duty work on cats or rabbits.
We do not see it as a suitable machine for any semi serious or "fashionable" clipping on breeds such as Poodles or Spaniels principally due to the lack of suitable blades as similar to those as found in the "detachable" blade range and used on the A5 type clippers. If you are intending to clip a breed, which requires a degree of semi serious clipping forget this clipper and go for a machine, which uses detached blades - as these you will need!
Fitted with a professional pivot type motor it has an adjustable blade lever, which allows for the adjustment of the blade resulting in an adjustable clipping length. This allows the machine to clip from 1/100 of an inch to 1/8th of an inch High quality carbon steel blades provide a keen cutting edge. The motor is smooth running with relatively low noise levels.
Supplied with an array of extras, which include no less than eight attachment combs ranging from 1/16 of an inch through to 1 inch. Other extras include a blade cover to protect the blades when the clipper is not being used, a very smart and sharp pair of general purposes scissors which have very sharp blades, plus the usual oil and grooming instructions.

- We feel the description "clipper" is a bit misleading with this quality of machine. People immediately view it as a clipper rather than an economy trimmer, and think it is able to cope with "more serious" clipping. Whilst being versatile it does have limitations! Flimsy attachment combs. On/off switch not well located.
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
A smart pet trimmer kit described as a "Home Grooming Animal Kit." The clipper has a strong resemblance to a Wahl human low price economy hair clipper, and in our opinion those with a dog breed, which requires and degree of semi serious clipping should resist the temptation to purchase without looking at some of the more up market and capable machines.
Experience proves time and time again that these economy priced clippers (we prefer the term -"trimmers") do not live up to customer expectations and lead to considerable disappointment. If you have a Spaniel, Poodle or Terrier, forget this product and purchase one of the "detachable" blade machines. (Look at Andis MBG or Andis AGC-single speed clippers)
Attractively cheap and packaged with a lot of bits including four rather flimsy attachment (blending) combs, a smart comb and sharp pair of scissors (for use when the blades go blunt?) plus "instructional" DVD, oil and cleaning brush. The DVD is a useful instructional medium and considering the audience to which it is address i.e. pet owners - it has some good information and advice - even if one questions the merits of washing your mutt in the kitchen sink!
The electro magnetic has a rather loud "hum, and when first switched on starts off with aloud "clonk" suggesting that the whole thing is about to blow up! Don't worry its quite normal! A side fitted adjustable lever allows for adjustment to blade cutting depths. Blades do need to be correctly fitted and also aligned properly - otherwise you have cutting problems!

Made by Moser of Germany, this innovative and well designed cordless trimmer offers continuous clipping from two interchangeable battery packs each providing a clip time of 60 minutes. Re-charge time is achieved comfortably within one and a half hours.
With a remarkably low noise factor and minimal vibration this is a superb trimmer for any horse owner seeking a quality "companion" trimmer to compliment a full body traditional machine. Whilst the price may seem higher than alternative trimmers - this really is in a class of it own and well worth the extra cost!
The angled clipping head is fitted with a "snap on" blade. The innovative blade design has built in adjustment giving five cutting adjustments from 0.1mm to 3mm with further cutting depth obtained from the attachment combs supplied. Moser claim that the blades will remain sharp for periods in excess of one year! Blades are capable of being re-sharpened several times.
Many end user working on a range of animals including horses and dogs report amazement at the performance and overall quality of the clipping produced by this quiet superb little trimmer, which more than fulfil the concept of German quality!

- Very hard to "knock" this one! We have knocked it slightly on a "touch" noisy hum in some models, and past minor faults as mentioned below
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
When we first saw this little compact trimmer lurking about on a shelf in an office at Wahl UK - a good few years ago now - we immediately recognised its potential. How it has proved us right over the years! A highly versatile gem!
Used either in cordless or mains powered mode it has established a role for itself in almost every clipping field, finding favour with cattle folk (beef or dairy) horse owners, hundreds of vets, and pet owners. Very hard to fault this trimmer - it really is super!
Like any mass-produced product, and there are literally thousands sold to happy customers, it has had the odd problem from time to time but in the main it has remained trouble free. (One weak spot proved to be in the cable at the trimmer end where the cord enters if used excessively in mains mode.) Batteries, which can be re-placed, seem to last between 5/7 years with average use. If you run out of battery power you just plug in the charger adapter and carry on clipping! Fast re-charge well within the hour!
Its great strengths are versatility, comfortable to use, mobility, useable in both power modes (cordless or mains) Detachable type blades supported with a super blade range for a machine of its size, plus great value - especially with two blades!
