Special whitening shampoos for Horses and Ponys

Amongst the many types of natural based shampoos there are some, which are especially suitable for the extra whitening and brightening of a white coat, and many have the added ability to remove various types of stains, without resorting to containing bleaches and similar additives.

Often such whitening shampoos enhance the hair colouring of those animals, which have multi coloured coats such as black and white or red and white - typical examples being black and white cattle, collie dogs and certain breeds of horses.

Recommended shampoos are: -
DOUBLE "K" - Alpha White
DOUBLE "K" - Midnight White

Persistent stains can be often removed with "Quick Clean" - one of the finest stain removers available, which can be used without wetting the coat with water, and is therefore ideal for show day uses. However it should be noted that urine stains - especially on female sheep and some dog breeds however are some of the hardest to combat, and often there is little one can do especially if the staining has been allowed to go on for a degree of time. In effect it kills the hair/staple leaving it a dull lifeless colour in the remaining hair strands.

Whilst dairy udders, horses legs and socks and sheep legs and faces in particular can all benefit from the remarkable whitening power of "Ultra White Chalk." as well as certain shampoos such as "Alpha White and Midnight White" ) Many dog and cat exhibitors many find these products extremely useful where areas of the coat need special whitening.

"Ultra White Chalk." is not like any ordinary chalk, it has a unique "staying" power and whether rubbed in or applied with a talcum powder "shaker" it leaves the hair a brilliant and vibrant white which will not rub off like most chalk.

A valuable alternative application is to mix some into a creamy paste and apply with a cloth or brush, (a cheap shaving brush works well!) This method is often applied to the faces of Texel sheep and to various dairy cow udders where whitening is desirable.
