HIGHLY RECOMMENDED/OUTSTANDING
+ GERMAN! - Can one say more? Ultimate engineering and quality - built to last! Pure BMW!
- Expensive? Unashamedly - Yes! Pure quality has a price!
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
From AESCULAP of GERMANY - "One of the World's finest engineered A5 detachable blade using dog clippers made!"
Aesculap, with over two decades of manufacturing the Favorita II - probably the best dog clipper made - with a long and proven history of reliability - have stormed the dog grooming world - lifting manufacturing standards to a new level with the introduction of their FAV5 - their first ever detachable A5 blade using clipper!
The FAV5 is a powerful machine with a smooth running and sounding motor which apart from being typically Aesculap in tone - inspires confidence in its ability to generate power for professional use. Now with the power and expertise of Aesculap engineering you can also fit not only your existing detachable A5 blades - whether Oster, Andis, Laube, Moser,Thrive or Wahl, but Aesculap have also created a full range of Aesculap high quality German made detachable A5 blades which closely mirror the sizes (and prices!) of Oster other similar makers of the A5 blades.
German made product have a long history of being engineered to perfection, as well as unlimited reliability - hence this is the reason so many of use purchase a German made product!
As one would expect from one of the top German veterinary manufacturer, the Aesculap FAV5 inherits the same reputation for reliability and long levity - especially important for any professional dog parlour clipper where above all reliability is the keyword.
Peasridge was privileged to conduct intensive practical field trials in a number of professional grooming parlours and can say with complete confidence that the FAV5 fully lived up to the very high standards of performance we have come to expect from Aesculap over many years.
A number of engineering features lift this machine into a superior category including placing it ahead of various competitors :
A ball bearing universal motor provides great durability
A smooth low noise level motor tone - the hallmark of Aesculap quality!
The expectancy of a long working life of reliability
A smooth running motor with low cutting stroke ratio generating virtually a total absence of vibration.
A ventilation system eliminating overheating in prolonged use.
Easily cleaned air filter
The motor and component parts in an unbreakable body casing
Made in Germany, by skilled German engineers
One year manufacturer's warranty.
Manufactured to a standard rarely seen these days.
DOG GROOMERS:
Introducing the FAV5 to your busy grooming business assures you of reliability coupled with long levity and the ability to be able to use any of your favourite A5 type detachable blades, whether Andis, Laube, Moser, Oster, Thrive or Wahl, thus saving considerable expenditure in additional blade purchase. Plus you can relax in the confidence of Aesculap after sales support - considered second to none!
For the average dog grooming parlour a heavy investment in blades will always have a consideration on the make and model of clipper used when replacement is being considered. With the Aesculap FAV5 you can be assured all your favourite detachable A5 blades will fit and can be used as you desire.
Yes - the retail price is rather higher than other more economy machines. Aesculap make no apology for producing high quality product without compromise! A superior product usually works out much cheaper in maintenance over the many years of service it gives.
Whilst many dog groomers may feel the purchase price is considerably higher than they may wish to necessarily invest, stop and consider the regular repair and maintenance bills of the more economy priced machines and the financial effect of a robust business being inconvenienced with mechanical breakdowns.
EQUINE OWNERS:
The FAV5 whilst projected at the dog grooming market, has found a popular niche market with the equine owner with a clipper shy horse. Here the FAV5 must surely be the answer to your clipping nightmare! At lasts a professional and powerful small clipper with a level of working noise that most horses will not freak over.
On all our extensive pre production tests on nervous horses whether hairy cobs or natives we found the smooth and soft noise of the clipper blades when operating plus the lack of any vibration made for a more contented horse and a stress freer operator. It is important the operator acquires knowledge of the various detachable wide blades which are suitable for the task in hand. Seek advice - blade knowledge is important!
Early tests suggested that fitted with the correct blade this clipper had the potential to be perfect for use with the "nervous" horse. Results were quiet literally "staggering!" We have an increasing list a number of horse owner who tell us they have never been able to clip their nervous horse until being tempted to try the FAV5 with either the Aesculap#10 wide blade or one of the two wide Moser blades. As they have all after testing purchased the Fav5 we feel the results speak for themselves!.
With the FAV 5 now in production, to avoid customers committing to purchase before they know with certainty we will loan FAV5 models to nervous horse owners Many all over the UK have taken advantage of this facility. On ALL occasions the feedback was and is positive! Many, who loaned initially to test, have been amazed at the resulting ease with which for the first time they could clip their horse and in many cases sedation was not required! These results bordered on the "unbelievable!"
We certainly believe this clipper could one day be the fore-runner of the clipper of the future! Not only its acceptance by nervous horses, but the size and overall weight is perfect for what is surly an hour plus of clipping. If that was not enough one last and huge advantage for the horse owner who maybe clips a few times a year - detachable blades - not more tensioning which can be such a "headache" for some.
Whilst probably is a decade or more away- it would be ..........one huge step for the equine owner!
Meanwhile for those who struggle to clip their horses its merits are awesome! That said you do need to select the right blades! So consult us before you contemplate purchasing!
Our own field trials suggest convincingly that both the Moser 2.3mm standard #10 wide and the Aesculap 2.4mm standard full wide #10 blade are the blades best suited to equine full body clipping, whist other may give a result these two blades have proved to date highly successful.
It is worth mentioning that the mode or manner in which the operator uses the machine - is - crucial to the quality of the performance and clip. This is especially true when confronted with a dense coated cob or native breed. It is "essential" the operator takes a "relaxed" approach to the clipping task, does not rush the clipping and at all times allows the machine to glide through the coat, rather than attempting to push the clipper. This must be emphasised at the start!
Other factors such as individual length of cut is crucial - short lengths produce far better results than clipping in long "lawn mower" stripes. Criss cross clipping action in confined areas rather than open up extensive areas give a more professional finish. At all times the blade face must be flat to the animal's body surface.
VETERINARIANS
For the laboratory or busy practicing veterinarian - where reliability and continuous use is of paramount importance - a machine of this calibre will easily undertake large or small animal work whether in a university laboratory or busy surgery!
LONG HAIRED CAT & RABBIT OWNERS:
Our extensive test convince us it is not only ideal - but near perfect for clipping any long hair nervous cat breeds due to its ultra low soft noise tone, as well as the absence of vibration. Few cats are ever going to like the effects of being clipped- especially this with badly matted coats. I near quiet machine is far more likely to be "tolerated" than many of the more noisy clippers.
In addition to long haired cats it is perfect for use on the many breeds of both long and short haired rabbits. Again with access to so many variants of blade size, tasks ranging from quality fibre clipping to simple husbandry tasks are easily coped with.
ANGORA GOAT SMALL FLOCK OWNERS:
Light and compact it is perfect for removing the valued coat product of the Angora whether goat or rabbit. With a wide range of A5 detachable blades that can be selected for whatever the task confronting you, you will have no problem in seeking a solution.
ALPACCA SMALL STUD OWNERS:
Many small studs of alpacas are successfully clipped or shorn annually with small detachable A5 blade clippers. The smooth low tone notes of the FAV5 are beneficial to the operator and perfect for your animals in ensuring that minimum stress is created.
As with equine full body clipping, so with the Alpaca, the correct blade selection is crucial and again both the Moser 2.3mm standard #10 wide and the Aesculap 2.4mm standard full wide #10 blade are in our opinion by far the best blades suited for quality clipping performance of a high value fleece.
Whatever your task in clipping - without any exaggeration the Aesculap FAV5 is probably the most likely contender to complete the task in the most satisfactory way possible. To further add to that result knowledge of the many types of blades is a great asset. At the end of the day .....it is the blade that does the cutting!

IMPORTANT! - CLIPPER VOLTAGE RATING -
The electrical machines we offer for sale are principally for use with the electrical supply system operation in the UK namely 240volt. This machine is there equipped with a suitable voltage motor and component parts and will have a supporting identification plate on the casing. In addition to working on the UK electrical system it can normally be used on any European 220/240 volt system.
The machine listed is supplied with a UK 3-pin plug and therefore will need an appropriate "adaptor" plug into which the UK 3-pin will fit. Whilst these are not readily available to us they can be usually easily obtained at your local electrical outlet or from our website.
Customers outside of the UK and European Countries should check their electrical supply rating and seek professional advice from a qualified electrician.
USA Customers should note that with a national 110-volt electrical supply system 240-volt products will need specialist converter equipment and may still not work. It is recommended that you seek professional advice from a qualified electrician before making a purchase.

+ GERMAN! - Can one say more? Exceptional quality - built to last!
- Expensive? Yes! Such is the price of Quality!
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
If you want a professional dog clipper, both German made and designed to give years of service, then the Aesculap Favorita II is probably the only one made to fit that criteria!
The cheaper economy type dog clippers are fine! Thousands of people use them, many hundreds are repaired every year, not always the fault of the clippers, end-users contribute to many unnecessary repairs, but equally - many are repaired due to quality faults!
The Aesculap Favorita II is probably the only professional dog-grooming clipper still manufactured to a standard in which quality, reliability and long levity are the prime concerns.
Made by Aesculap who are part of the of the German company - B Braun GmbH - a multinational company, internationally famous for decades, for its pioneering and leading involvement in both veterinary and human medical equipment. Today recognised as the specialists in their field, the design, engineering and finished quality of all their products is typically German and virtually unbeatable!
Aesculap have never been cheap! An Aesculap product will always costs more than a more cheaply made item, but often buying the best quality and paying a little extra, reaps lasting dividends in the long run! A lesson so often learnt the hard way!
Designed over a decade ago, it is today still unmatched. The innovative design and attractive style of the slim shaped handpiece, incorporates a combination of balance and lightness, to ensure the operator precision clipping to the highest standards. We particularly like the side positioned "on-off" switch designed and positioned for easy and safe operation.
Some observers may comment on the lower cutting stroke ratio in comparison to other machines and may question the power output of the Favorita II. However it is really a matter of motor torque produced and the corresponding power thus generated by the motor.
This is what drives the blades and they if correctly designed, manufactured, and suitably selected for the task in hand they will perform the actual cutting to satisfaction!
The Aesculap German made motors are more than equal to any of the many other machines available and often superior in torque values, with the lower cutting speed offering a much smoother vibration free running, far quieter noise level, and definitely far longer life expectancy than higher cutting stroke producing motors.
High cutting strokes whilst seemingly attractive can and often do cause various problems with both clipper heads and blades, and frequently lead to a number of performance related problems. Often a higher degree of routine maintenance is required.
A number of features lift this machine into a superior category, including the ball bearing universal motor, which provides great durability and long life, with almost total vibration free running. The ventilation system eliminates aspects of overheating, ensuring suitability for prolonged use. The air filter can be easily cleaned and the motor is encased in an unbreakable casing.
The Aesculap Favorita II is also an excellent choice beyond the realms of just dog clipping and it can, and is, widely used for clipping Angora Goats and many breeds of Rabbits. The GT746 blade is recommended for use on both goats and rabbits. Fitted with an Aesculap GT749 wide blade it has the potential to clip any nervous horse!
PLEASE NOTE:
This Aesculap Favourita II clipper unlike the model above is supplied WITHOUT a blade for those customers who prefer to select a blade for their particular needs or who already have blades and are replacing an existing machine.

+ This is another impressive Andis clipper, which is making a considerable "impression" in the UK dog market.
- The wide blade was disappointing. The locking device for on/off switch is a bit of a fiddle.
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Compact, well engineered, and professional, with design features incorporating an attractive slim shaped handpiece gives a combination of balance and lightness, to ensure the operator a comfortable clipping operation.
Identical to the AGC two-speed model, but with just the single speed, which operates at a very respectable 2700 cutting strokes per minute this is a professional clipper totally at home in any busy grooming parlour conditions. Equally an excellent choice for any dog owner who is involved in semi serious clipping of breeds such Spaniels, Poodles or Terrier breeds.
Blade attachment is easy to operate, smooth and crisp. Under prolonged use the motor remains cool running, with an acceptable noise level and little vibration, making this clipper a good choice for any really busy dog-grooming parlour. Cleaning and servicing the head has been made easy by good and thoughtful design. Low maintenance is a feature of this machine. Locking device for on/off switch is a bit of a fiddle and slightly annoying. The on/off switch position is just about accessible in an emergence situation; we would have preferred it higher up!
The current Andis blade range offers one of the most comprehensive for most grooming situations. Those considering making a change of machine will find the Andis AGC single speed equally at home with Oster or indeed most other detachable blades. We really would like to see clippers of this quality supplied in hard cases

+ Another impressive and eye catching Andis clipper, which is bound to make a big "impression" in the UK dog market.
- As yet very little to find fault with!
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
A mains powered clipper with the ability to change the cord pack for a battery, thus changing the usage mode from mains power to cordless. (Please note: To convert the "Power Groom" to a cordless machine you need to purchase in addition both a battery and charger unit as these are not supplied with the mains version.)
The striking colour, and the white contrast of the name font somehow draws the eye towards this clipper and straight away you can see the Andis family resemblance, certainly from the head down to the on/off switch, the clipper bears the same features as is found on all the AGC models.
Described as both lighter and smaller than other Andis clippers of its type it is altogether a very attractive machine. The girth of the clipper is just very slightly enlarged making it not quite as slim as the other AGC models. However the few extra mm's gained on the girth are more than compensated for in the reduced length of the machine which creates a really "compact" feeling when you hold it for the first time. The weight distribution is even and when you exchange the cord pack for a battery the balance is still retained with no weight imbalance at the rear end.
It is not the practice with modern battery and dual mains/battery machines to measure wattage; manufactures preferring to measure the power at the blade end. Andis assure us the comparable power is in the 35 to 40 watt range, and practical use suggests the clipper is as powerful as all the other 35w Andis machines.
The "Power Groom" offers a dual role either used with the cord pack in mains mode - as supplied, or by the additional purchase - unless you already own one - of an Andis battery unit (You will of course also need a charger to re-charge the battery!) Vets could clearly be in the running for this machine as it would be great used in mains mode in the surgery and very useful in a cordless mode out in the field or down on the farm.
For the professional groomer the comfortable size and weight, the ability to run in either mains or battery mode and the exceptional quiet operational noise level will all be appealing factors when considering a purchase.
Well built with a shatter proof housing the clipper is remarkable quiet, emitting a considerably lower noise level compared to other Andis machines and indeed most other mains powered dog clipper, not that any of them might be referred to as noisy! Our tested production model was so quiet as to lead us to the belief that it must rank as one of the quietest machine on the market.
Supplied with a size #10 - 1.5mm "Ceramic Edge" it is the first of the Andis models to be supplied with this type of blade in the UK. The "Ceramic Edge" blade has a ceramic cutter with a steel bottom plate or comb blade. It is said that ceramic blades after they have "bedded" in which is normally a period of about 8 hours on continual use perform to a better standard than steel blades and last longer. Ceramic blades are often described as being noisy for the initial "bedding in" period although our production test model with a ceramic blade fitted was extremely quiet!
Blade attachment is easy to operate, smooth and crisp. Under prolonged use the motor remains cool running, with just the hint of mild vibration, Cleaning and servicing the head has been made easy by good and thoughtful design. Low maintenance is a feature of this machine. The on/off switch position is just about accessible in an emergence situation; we would have preferred it slightly higher up!
The current Andis blade range of either "Ultra Edge" or "Ceramic Edge" offers one of the most comprehensive for most grooming situations. Those considering making a change of machine will find the Andis AGRC Power Groom equally at home with Oster or indeed most other detachable blades. We really would like to see clippers of this quality supplied in hard cases.

However it is supplied with a UK 3-pin plug and therefore will need an appropriate "adaptor" plug into which the UK 3-pin will fit. Whilst these are not readily available to us they can be usually easily obtained at your local electrical outlet.
Customers out side of the UK and European Countries should check their electrical supply rating and seek professional advice from a qualified electrician.
USA Customers should note that with a national 110-volt electrical supply system 240-volt products will need specialist converter equipment and may still not work. It is recommended that you seek professional advice from a qualified electrician before making a purchase.

+ Once the universally the dog clipper for grooming parlours and owners of breeds who need serious clipping
- Over heating problems. Very "dated" handpiece" Serious competition from other better products. Sold without blade!
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Once the benchmark of the dog groomer's clippers, however unfortunately both time and the "competition" have caught up and in the case of the latter - cruised past! Constant overheating problems have not helped the situation either! With growing discontent of the overheating problems, and the availability of other often better machines their market status has been badly eroded.
Despite the current problems of overheating and being rather "dated" one has to recognise that they are still used in their thousands in many countries and that they have pioneered the dog grooming blades and still offer a pretty good blade range, although Andis now has the edge. Other than the overheating, and end user abuse, they are generally fault free!
Reasonably lightweight and compact, the handpiece is not as slim nor as comfortable as others are in its class. The powerful 35-watt motor copes with all parlour-clipping tasks. Blade attachment is a crisp and smooth operation, with few problems with the latch assembly. The newer models have introduced double side air filter ventilation, no doubt as an attempt to reduce existing over heating problems.
Potential customer should note that Oster clippers are generally always sold without a blade. Infuriating as it may be! - Especially if you are not aware, and having rushed home to try out the new "purchase" on the family hound, only to find you are bladeless! We are told it is done this way because what ever blade was added would not suit all needs! Funny - but most manufacturer's making dog clippers sells them with a blade! (Agreed - Aesculap also don't on their Favourita!)
