Moser detachable blades

MOSER " narrow "detachable" A 5 type blades are suitable for use on all professional clippers using "detachable" blades such as those manufactured by Andis, Oster, Laube, Thrive, Wahl, and of course several Moser machines. These are popular blades used for principally clipping dogs, and cats as well as many other animals both large and small.

Moser narrow "detachable" A 5 blades are generally not available to be purchased within the UK, nor we understand in the USA. However they are available in virtually all-European countries. (With the exception of the UK.)

Peasridge maintain constant supplies of genuine ex factory Moser blades for customers both in the UK and worldwide. Many of our professional customers often prefer to use Moser blades with their Moser clipper.

UK purchasers who acquire a new Moser machine are required to use the Wahl "Competition Series" blades, which are normally now supplied with the Moser clipper at the point of sale, or to select additional blades from Oster, Andis, Laube or Thrive blade ranges. (Wahl of course own Moser.)

Moser "detachable" blades, unlike many similar blades, are still made at the Moser factory in the heart of the Black Forest, in Germany, by German craftsmen who have been involved in the art of blade making for many years.

Made from finest German steel these blades are forged in true German tradition, honed and sharpen to become some of the most superior blades available, which accounts for their popularity amongst many clipping professionals who have had the opportunity to use them. Many professional groomers go as far as to consider these blade superiors to other makes. Moser blades may vary on the flat side of the comb blade with some having a "smooth" surface, others may have a "ribbed" surface as shown in our various blade diagrams.

Horse owners may be interested to note that Moser make two of the finest "detachable" wide blades as far as clipping performance is concerned for use on "detachable" blade using professional horse clippers. The standard wide blade is highly popular, and the wide fine blade copes well with the more difficult fine hair coats.

Unlike many wide blades which are essentially designed for large dog breeds, but may be found to work on certain breeds of horses, the Moser wide blades are specifically designed for use on horses and can be confidently purchased for use on most horse breeds including certain cob and native breeds

The Moser narrow blades are often used for various parts of the horse's body, the face and legs or the mane especially in the case of polo ponies.

Narrow detachable small animal blades:

The blades clipping to the closest distance from the skin - thus leaving the least hair will be the highest blade number (#40)

Blades leaving increasing depths of hair start generally from blades size# 7 and downward in numerical numbering.

Blade sizes #40 to size #8.5 are of one style but varying cutting depths generally, and it is usual for them to have a smooth back on the lower plate.

From blade size 7 to the last blades in the range - which may be a 3 or ¾ size, the blades generally split into two distant types - the "full" tooth style blade or the "skip" tooth blade.

A "skip" tooth blade is a blade were the teeth of the lower plate (comb) alternate from one long with one short across the cutting face. This allows for a "scissoring effect when applied rather than a smooth finish. Often referred to as a "blending" blade.

A "full" tooth blade, is one marked "F" after the blade size number, or in some cases "FC" is a "full" or "full cut" blade indicating that it gives a smooth velvet style finish when used.

Thus blades marked as "#7" will invariably be a skip tooth blade; whereas a blade marked #7F or #7FC will be a full tooth blade.

Both "full" tooth blades and or "skip" tooth blades may be ribbed or have a plain surfaced on the lower blade plate. Some manufacturers claim the ribbed effect helps to keep the blade cooler.

A "corduroy" marked effect can sometimes be seen on a smooth coat such as a horse when a ribbed blade is used. Its effects are short termed however and usually disappear within 24/48hrs of being clipped.

The mm depth cutting size can, and may, often vary by a small amount from one manufacturer to another

Animal grooming customers should be careful to ensure they use Moser animal designed blades as listed below and not those designed for human hair clipping. Some outlets may confuse products!

The Moser size #40 blades possess an increased number of short finer comb teeth, slimmer in entry profile, and flat without a bevelled tip, so that the cutter blade operates across a flat surface lying back from the comb blade tips by approximately 0.5mm.

Moser blades are internationally considered by many professional groomers as superior to other similar detachable blades.

This blade fits the Moser Max 45 model type: 1245 and Moser KM1 model type: 1225, and can be used with the Moser Horseline "Avalon" and "Artiko clippers.

These blades are also suitable for use with Andis/Oster/Laube & Thrive clippers models, which use detachable A5 type blades.

In a majority of cases for dog grooming when used by a competent groomer or experienced exhibitor this blade produces a high quality show finish (very close) on the face, feet or tails of a Poodle with excellent skin and coat qualities. Very useful blade for preparing the underbelly of a pregnant bitch just before delivery, the blade is used to skim the area clean providing the skin underneath has no abrasions.

Useful blade when used on a number of mixed breeds. Dogs should be well groomed out before clipped. Popular blade for dealing with difficult and dense mats.

A popular blade for many veterinary practices, it is widely used for surgical preparation as it clips ultra close to the shin. Also used in laboratory work.

The size #40 blade is recommended for work involving the hogging of most breeds horses and polo ponies. This blade will also perform well on most horses legs and especially the feathers, although in the case of the lower parts of the legs and the feathers you may have to resort to attaching an attachment comb as a pure #40 blades will clip very close - indeed too close. However add a 1/16 or 1/4 -inch attachment comb and this will give you a desired covering of hair.

In the field of cattle this blade will give a very close finish and is used often for trimming dairy cattle udders, or for preparing the show "top-lines" Can be also used for freeze branding preparation.

Used for heads of Charollias sheep for show trim to remove small areas of both hair and wool, also for cleaning legs for show purposes.

A popular blade for use in conjunction with attachment combs. A wide range of attachment combs can be fitted over these blades to provide increased cutting length. Note however - comb attachments should only be used on well-groomed coats and not those, which are tangled or matted.

A word of advice! Working with attachment combs does require that the areas to be clipped are thoroughly groomed and cleaned.

When used against the grain this blade will give a closer cut than the normal approach, and this can if done correctly produce a really nice finish on the top of the head and back of the neck of a densely coated Schnauzer, but the finish is too close for the Schnauzer bodywork.

Works well on Terrier ears when working with the lay of the coat. Good blade to use when dealing with mats that are packed fairly tight to the skin. Work of this nature must however be done slowly and with considerable care.

It will easily skim the coat from the under belly and topside inside of the back legs on any breed.

Useful blade for paw work.

Widely used by many groomers with an attachment comb. A wide range of attachment combs can be fitted over these blades to provide increased cutting length. Comb attachments should only be used on well-groomed coats and not those, which are tangled or matted.

The size #10 is highly popular blade for commonly applied for general and underbody use on a wide variety of dog breeds and is often selected when a reasonably close and or smooth finish is required. Most professional dog groomers will have this blade and probable use it the most within their day-to-day work.

A good blade use when going with the grain of the coat on the faces or light coloured Poodles, which are easily irritated. Used for the under belly work and also on the ears of terriers. Often selected as the blade to use when stripping off coats, which have mats that are to close to the skin to permit the use of other blades. Universally used for bodywork on the Schnauzer.

This blade is especially recommended for use on necks, ears, and the throat of both Cocker, Fox, Irish and Welsh Terriers, ear tips of the West Highland White Terrier, necks and ears of the Lakeland and ears of the Airedale, Bedington, Cairn Yorkshire Terrier. Similar in cutting depth to the Andis UltraEdge #4 (9.5mm) or the Oster A5 Cryotech #4 at 9.5mm. A popular blade for bodywork on many low slung dog breeds. (West Highland White, Scottish, Cairn, etc.)

Consider this blade also for use - against the lie of the coat - on thick-coated Springer's or Cockers for a rather short but a very smooth look.

The #4F full tooth can be used as an alternative to any #4 blade for a pet trim involving short bodywork on Bichon Frise. Kerry Blue: Use this blade for the body, sides and back, and the tail.

As an alternative to any #4 blade for a shorter pet trim use the #4FC blade on Lhasa Apso, Maltese, Old English Sheepdog, Portuguese Water Dog, Shih Tzu, Silky & Yorkshire Terriers.

Use in respect of a short pet trim - body for the Pekingese and Soft coated Wheaten Terrier (throat included.)

Good blade for bodywork on the various Poodle clips.

Attachment combs do not fit this size of blade.
