Made by Burgon & Ball, a simple, cheap and cheerful, but very effective pocket shear sharpener using a (delicate) long life silicon carbon wafers. Good for the short term honing up, but you will still need to get your shears re-ground and re-set regularly if they are to cut effectively.
Shears that have severely blunted or damaged blades require to be professionally bench ground.

The sharpener is simple to use, you just rub each blade along the groove against the sharpening stone, in much the same way as sharpening a knife. If correctly used it quickly and easily restores the cutting edge, however it is important that shears have retained the same blade angle as when manufactured.
Inside the pocket sharpener two grooves offer either a 45 degree (middle) or 65 degree (bottom) angle. Insert the wafer into the selected slot The sharpener is supplied with the wafer fitted at the 65 degree angle
A word of warning! DO NOT pull the shear blades apart to sharpen - if you do you will ruin the "set" and will experience great difficulty getting them back to the correct shape unless you have special tools to do this. To sharpen each blade, gently cross the blades over and squeeze the handles together, this will expose the blades individually for sharpening.
Can be used to sharpen pocket knives also.
