Made in the USA - an impressive professional clipper with good performance. One of the top selling professional dog groomer's clippers which is fast replacing traditional Oster machines in the work place.
Good design features incorporating an attractive slim shaped and compact handpiece gives a combination of balance and lightness, to ensure the operator a comfortable clipping operation. In addition and very important, it is cool running, even in prolonged working situations - an essential requirement for the busy grooming parlour!
Blade attachment is easy to operate, smooth and crisp. Under prolonged use the motor remains cool running, with an acceptable noise level and little vibration at both speed levels, making this clipper a good choice for any really busy dog-grooming parlour. Cleaning and servicing the head has been made easy by good and thoughtful design.
Low maintenance is a feature of this machine.
The Andis blade range offers one of the most comprehensive blade ranges for most grooming situations, and those making a change of machine will find the Andis AGC 2 speed equally at home with Oster or indeed most other detachable type blades. Sadly the sole Andis wide blade was a big disappointment.
We prefer clippers of this quality in a hard case and not a soft box, which one has no hope of ever repackaging in!

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
At first sight an almost identical copy of the AGC two-speed model, but the principle difference between the two-speed and the "Super" two-speed is the increase in power as illustrated by the number of cutting strokes per minute.
The "Super" two-speed motor has been upgraded to 3300spm (an increase of 1300 spm against the two speed model) and in the higher speed capacity to 4100spm. (The two-speed model only reached 3400spm). In all other respects the "Super" adopts the same popular, well tried and tested features, which have made the two-speed clipper one of the leading popular mains, power dog clippers.
Whilst a relative new model to the market place, the "Super" two-speed has under gone extensive field trials not only by ourselves with selected professional groomers, but with many others both in the UK and the US. Our trials suggested a persistence to overheating which we have duly reported to Andis as we feel this is not a feature they would wish to ignore and certainly one that will be off putting to potential purchasers.
The Andis blade range offers a complete coverage for most grooming situations, and those making a change of machine will find the Andis AGC "Super" 2-speed equally at home with Oster or indeed most other detachable type blades. Sadly the sole Andis wide blade is not one of the greatest. We still continue to hope clippers of this quality will one day be sold in a hard case and not a soft box!

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
A professional flexi drive shaft driven horse/dog clipper from made by Double K Industries of the USA.
Not the type of machine you see frequently in use, but that has more to do with marketing than products fault! Talk to anyone who has one, or has used a friends - they all tell you the same - "a super, quiet, easy to handle and very reliable clipper!"
Aimed at the dog groomer and horse owner/clipper market this is a machine designed to take all makes of "detachable" A5 type blades, and which bears a strong resemblance to the Oster A5 machine in shape and size, however that's when the resemblance stops - the Oster is known for its frequent over heating, this machine is beautifully cool running!
One can see the value of this powerful clipper when clipping alpacas - having the power unit clipped to ones belt and the very low noise level together with the excellent power make it a very desirable tool for shearing of the heavy coats!
The different - non-conventional way of clipping, no cables but using a flexible drive shaft is in the same way identical to shearing sheep. The motor control box is worn off the belt, but can if preferred be hung from a beam or ceiling point. The cable from the control box to the converter unit is just under 11-feet (3.3m.) The variable speed adjustment dial is a valuable facility especially when clipping some large animals, or those who display a nervous tendency toward being clipped. By starting at the lower speed, one can increase by as many as ten stages to the maximum power output, although most end users prefer one speed - the fastest!
Anyone who has sheep shearing experience will immediately recognise the sheer convenience of clipping this way with a shaft! Those who have clipped with more conventional clippers and cable may find the more ridged shaft slightly off putting to start with until they have done a little!
One you have a few miles under your belt you will love it!!
The clipper is not supplied with a blade allowing for the flexibility of use. If you are intending to use it on horses, or alpacas then we would strongly suggest you select either an Aesculap or Moser wide 2.4mm detachable blades for optimum performance.
PLEASE NOTE:
This product is supplied with a 3-pin electrical plug. The 3-pin system is only for use in the UK only - for European or International use a further adapter is required which is not supplied with the charger unit.
Adapters of this nature can be usually purchased from any electrical outlet in the country for which it is intended to use the product.
Customers from the USA should be aware that 240v machines are not suitable for the US electrical power supply. Clippers specifically made to 110v are need for the USA.
SUITABLE BLADE RANGES:
This clipper is not supplied with a blade owing to the fact that as it accepts all detachable A5 type and whatever blade it was packaged with is not likely to be the most preferred one.
This clipper takes all ANDIS/AESCULAP/MOSER/OSTER/LAUBE/THRIVE/WAHL detachable A5 blades.
For full body clipping of either horses or alpacas, we recommend you to purchase either the Aesculap or Moser 2.4mm WIDE detachable blades, which are considered more suited to horse coats of most breeds.

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Oster A5 clippers have for many years been used in many professional dog-grooming parlours, however due to a growing discontent with continuous overheating problems, other machines have eroded their market, and not least of these being the now more superior Andis and Moser products.
Another very annoying feature as far as the end user is concerned is the product being sold without a blade (reminds one of the "dark ages" when electric things were sold without a plug!)
The two-speed version offers the facility of a slow and faster speed, which has its merits, although most groomers go at the fastest speed available! Reasonably lightweight and compact the handpiece is neither as slim nor as comfortable as others in its class. The powerful 35-watt motor copes with all parlour-clipping tasks. The newer models have introduced double side air filter ventilation, no doubt as an attempt to reduce existing over heating problems.

+ With such a long history a new Oster product is always interesting! A really nice change from the more traditional Oster A5 clippers
- Made in China!! A few claims that need investigation. Is the "New Kid on the Block" the success story Oster need?
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Oster clippers, have for many, especially those involved in the dog grooming business, been synonymous with the clipping of dogs. However both time and strong competition have somewhat eroded what was once a market exclusively "Oster" Since the days of the near famous single and two speed A5 clippers several new Oster models that have emerged have proved somewhat disappointing.
The new Power Max" is made in China. Hopefully a wise decision!
There are a few aspects we would question! Described on the official Oster web site as "powerful, time saving and lightweight clippers" it is also claimed to be 20% lighter than the Oster A5! Assuming the Oster A5 is the same as they supply the UK market, then according to our electronic scales the weight is 0.5kilos with the blade fitted which happens to be exactly the same weight we recorded for the Oster A5.
We compared it to a range of other - compatible professional makes - admittedly all 35w dog clippers and physiologically we were of the opinion it felt heaver!
Oster literature that claims the clipper has a powerful (yet silent) cool running motor. In all the years we have tested clippers and trimmers (of all sizes) we have never come across a "silent" clipper and the "Power Max" is no exception! The production model we tested with a blade fitted was on a par with most machines of its type as far as noise levels where concerned.
A curious a comment in the manual under "Important Safeguards "that states "The intended operating time is 20 minutes!" (See manual heading -WARNINGS No:16) In a busy grooming or home use environment that might be considered rather "restrictive!"
Lastly Oster say this is the "New Kid on the Block!" and capable of pretty robust work in a fully professional arena. Indeed this may well be so, but we being a bit "long in the tooth" and cautious by nature, prefer to allow the passing of time to be the judge. If it is a good as is stated one can only wonder what justifies the considerably higher price of the A5's?
On the plus side the design and overall finish is good with a "satin" type finish to the upper portion of the upper casing, at the rear of which is the on/off speed selection switch. This casing is set into a rubberised upper casing secured with four screws to the lower casing moulded in the same rubberised material. One of the features of this rubberised body casing covering is that it provides excellent "grip" especially when working in warm conditions. The "bail" arm (hanging hook) is rigid - a nice design feature!
The blade release mechanism follows the tradition method. (Do remember to fully push the blade release lever in and hold it fully depressed whilst you remove the blade. These break easily on all machines if you don't!) The blade drive lever has been re-designed and is a robust plastic component of which two spares are supplied at the time of purchase - suggesting they may wear and need to be periodically renewed.
Potential customer should note that Oster clippers are generally always sold without a blade - the "Power Max" is no exception!. Infuriating as it may be! - Especially if you are not aware, and having rushed home to try out the new "purchase" on the family hound, only to find you are …bladeless! We are told it is done this way because whatever blade was added would not suit all needs! Funny - but most manufacturers' making dog clippers sells them with a blade! (Agreed - Aesculap also don't on their Favourita II! But they do on their fantastic FAV5.)
Seems therefore not to be such a problem!
In conclusion a big improvement from the old fashioned style of the Oster A5 (Black or Burgundy models) Nice grip even if - to our thinking, heavier than say an ANDIS. Easy manoeuvrability. If as good as claimed it will certainly add competition to all but the more superior German machines.
In short as yet "un-proven" but potentially "with promise!"

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
The Max 45 is one of the most powerful dog clippers on the market. Made and assembled in Germany this is one of the "stars" from the House of Moser, and it has all the superior qualities associated with a German built product.
Lightweight, low noise level, virtually no vibration, slim and comfortable to hold and use, it will power away for hours without any sign of overheating provided it is properly and regularly lubricated.
Equipped with an efficient two-speed 45w motor it is powerful enough to be often used as a "full body" horse clipper (using the Wahl/Moser 2.3mm wide blade) as well as professional dog-grooming machine. Like its predecessor the Moser KM1, it has quickly built a reputation for hard work and reliability, and as such has a popular following in dog grooming circles.
The attractive style of the newly designed casing enhances a shapelier handpiece, giving an added combination of balance and lightness. A number of features will put this machine into a superior category, especially the ability to operate at two speeds and over prolonged periods without any signs of overheating. With a very acceptable noise level it is almost vibration free.
Due to the cool running motor it is a natural choice for busy professional dog grooming parlours, and will accept "snap-on" Oster blades as well as most other types of detachable blades. Several of the new Moser CeraBlades, which are ceramic coated and said to remain sharper longer, are also suitable and can be fitted to this clipper. Moser Max 45/Avalon/Artiko clippers are now supplied with a improved drive leaver (Part number KM1245-7140).which has a red drive tip In with the accessories are two spare drive tips and a drive tip removal tool.
In keeping with most clippers an element of routine maintenance is required to maintain the clipper in peak performance. Drive tips do wear with constant use and clipper performance may become affected as a result - therefore routine checking of the tip for wear and if found subsequent replacement is recommended.
This is a routine job which most owners would find well within their ability and requires no additional special tool.

The electrical machines we offer for sale are principally for use with the electrical supply system operation in the UK namely 240volt.
This machine is there equipped with a 240 motor and component parts and will have a supporting identification plate on the casing. In addition to working on the UK electrical system it can be used on any European 220/240 volt system.
However it is supplied with a UK 3-pin plug and therefore will need an appropriate "adaptor" plug into which the UK 3-pin will fit. Whilst these are not readily available to us they can be easily obtained at your local electrical outlet.
Customers out side of the UK and European Countries should check their electrical supply rating and seek professional advice from a qualified electrician.
USA Customers should note that with a national 110-volt electrical supply system 240-volt products will need specialist converter equipment and may still not work. It is recommended that you seek professional advice from a qualified electrician before making a purchase.

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
The first professional dog clipper from Wahl of their own making. This is not a Moser German made product, as the packaging would have you believe! Could it be Wahl lack confidence in their own made products?
Aimed at the professional dog groomer market this is a detachable blade machine, which will accept most other makes of detachable A5 type blades. Supplied with a size#10 Wahl "Competition Series" 1.8mm blade (These are not everybody's favourite blades - we would prefer it supplied with a Moser blade which certainly clipped better when used on test!)
We were disappointed in the vibration levels, which featured strongly in test users opinions. Also, and probably nit picking maybe, but the aggravating "barber" noise tone could be highly irritating in a grooming parlour situation! The variable speed adjustment may be valuable although most groomers prefer one speed - flat out!
Production models we have inspected appear to have no electrical identification data plate fixed to the body casing, information regarding wattage or voltage, nor any indication of EU - CE rating as is the case with most other professional machines of this nature. (The CE rating is admittedly given on the box packaging and certain information can be read off the "switching Power Supply plug - not that any wattage rating is mentioned!)
It is too early to make any serious pronouncements regarding the expected performance especially as this is the first real Wahl made professional machine we have seen. It will have to compete against some well-established "peers" and has yet to face the serious competition of the forthcoming Aesculap entry into the professional dog-grooming arena!
To give the clipper credit it handles well, the material of the casing is pleasant to the hand, and it is both compact and lightweight. The position of the on/off switch is not ideal for any sudden emergency, and we fail to understand why manufacturers cannot grasp this point and will persist in putting switches in the most awkward places! The blade release catch is nice and positive and a decent size. Various makes of blades all appear to engage well and the clipper head is nicely protected against hair being sucked into the integral part of the motor.
