The DOUBLE K - ChallengAir 850 floor standing forced air dryer has two 7.1 Lamb motor with choke (see Item number 3 on the above dryer diagram.)
Carbon brushes - which are supplied with these motor unit - should be inspected regularly and require to be changed after about 600 hours of continuous use. If on inspection they appear worn below ¼ of an inch in length change immediately to avoid motor damage.

Persons considering making repairs to electrical dryer themselves should be mindful such repairs may invalidate the warranty especially where it specifies repairs are to be carried out by an authorised service establishment or qualified engineer. Please refer to your instruction manual.
In addition repairs of an electrical nature or situations involving the main body casing being opened, may require an electrical test to be undertaken at an approved repair centre before the machine is used again.

Carbon brushes are easy to replace. First unplug the machine from any power supply it may be connected to.
To remove: Remove the back cover from the unit. Loosen the four screws holding the dryer in place, and remove the motor from the housing. Brushes should now be visible! Remove the tab from the brush bracket assembly using a flat screwdriver to push out. Loosen and remove the two screws in the brush bracket and remove both bracket and brush. Blow motor clean using high-pressure air.
To replace: Insert new brush assembly in place, and replace brush bracket over assembly and tighten the two screws. Insert the brush tab into the new brush assembly. Repeat the same on the other side. Slide the motor back inside the dryer housing, align screw channels, replace the four screw evenly and securely, but do not over tighten! Replace back plate and test before use.
