HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

+A highly impressive clipper of exceptional German quality combined with outstanding design and engineering skills. Both the previous FAV5's models (mains and cordless) proved themselves in many clipping fields! The "Hybrid" makes this top quality clipper affordable to all

- We have never approved of rear end positioning of on/off switch for emergency use

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION :
For veterinarian involved in clinical work - where reliability and continuous use is of paramount importance - a machine of this calibre will easily undertake large or small animal work whether in a university laboratory or busy surgery! The ability to be able to go "mains or cordless" with the same machine will for many a veterinary laboratory or practice be an attractive concept

The Aesculap Fav5 CL "Hybrid" is basically a Fav5 CL GT306 cordless handpiece, supplied without the two battery packs and charger unit, but instead has a "corded adapter" which is inserted in the rear of the handpiece in the same way as you insert the battery unit. This then provides you with a mains corded machine at a reduced price to the Aesculap Fav5 GT105 (corded) machine, plus the ability to convert to a cordless machine by the purchase of batteries and charger unit, should you wish.

The "Hybrid" in the corded mode has a slightly higher cutting stroke frequency 2500/min. However when you convert to the battery mode (to become the Fav5 CL GT306 cordless model) the cutting stroke rate is reduced to 2300/min. Otherwise apart from the mode of operation it is virtually identical, having the same slim shaped handpiece, and compact length. Like both the Fav5's it has the same good sized blade release button, (not the mean type supplied by many manufacturers) and a clever bit of typically German design and engineering that hold the blade release clip open until you refit a blade!

For the veterinary customer seeking traditional German high quality in both design and engineering the "Hybrid" offers the opportunity to acquire one of the most outstanding high quality professional clippers seen on the market in recent years. It accepts all your existing A5 detachable blades of various makes, and is a considerably more affordable price than either the Fav5 CL GT306 cordless or Fav5 GT105 mains corded machines.

The Aesculap Fav5 "Hybrid" inherits features common to both the Aesculap Fav5 CL GT306 cordless and the Fav5 GT105 mains corded machines both of which have established themselves as highly versatile "detachable" A5 blade powerful professional clippers of exceptional low noise level with virtually no vibration, which will take all makes of recognised A5 type detachable pre- tensioned blades both narrow and wide. Created for the dog grooming market, they have both shown proven potential involving larger animals such as horses and alpacas, providing the right blades are selected.

One instantly recognised feature when you first switch the machine on - is the smooth unmistakable "Aesculap" motor tone! Aesculap clippers have always been noted for motors that emitted smoother and lower tones than many other similar machines and the "Hybrid" inherits the quieter motor feature with vibration eradicated. The powerful driven motor whether in battery or corded mode, with the use of "detachable type blades will enable you to be more ambitious in your clipping scope! The "Hybrid" like the FAV5 CL is compact - so compact most horse owners tend to dismiss it as too small - only to be proven wrong once they try it! The body casing has been carefully designed to provide a slim line "shaped hold" for maximum "grip" comfort when operating.

The Veterinary Surgery and its practicing vets may be called to perform clipping tasks whether for surgery purposes or husbandry reasons on a wide range of animals both large and small. Below are listed some of the species we have tested the "Hybrid" on and the results of our findings.

NERVOUS HORSES:
The "Hybrid" FAV5 CL can be used for clipping a nervous horse. Conclusive tests show that fitted with the right blade, (This IS important!) and clipping approached in the right manner, like both the Fav5 CL GT306 and the Fav5 GT105 it can be used for full body clipping without stress or undue pressure for the operator and horse, invariably making calling the vet a thing of the past! Many horse owners have tendency to be judgemental and quick to dismiss the both the Fav5 CL GT306 and the Fav5 GT105 as "Far too small!" Understandable if you have been accustom to those "last century" machines of the late 1990's but before you make assumptions, just try them! They certainly won't suit everybody or every horse, but for many they will make a huge and lasting "clipping" difference! The world has moved on since the days of the 12inch long bulky machines with heavy battery packs!

We would stress that as good as any clipping machine is - and all the Aesculap FAV5's are in a league of their own when it comes to clipping nervous horses, it is important the operator acquires a knowledge of the various detachable wide blades which are suitable for the task in hand. No two horses have identical coat textures, clips can and often do, vary from season to season. There are a number of "wide" blades on the market, not all have been designed "exclusively" for full body clipping of horses. Intended and designed for the large dog breeds essentially, perhaps they happen to clip a horse! Question is ....Will they clip yours? Different blades will perform better on various clipping tasks! Seek advice - blade knowledge is important! When you use the A5 detachable blade using type clipper, you need to think and clip differently to the traditional type machine and blades.

Our own field trials with both mains and cordless versions suggest convincingly that both the Moser 2.3mm standard #10 wide and the Aesculap 2.4mm standard full wide #10 blade are the two blades best suited to equine full body clipping. Whilst others may give a result, these two blades have proved themselves highly successful. In the case of certain thor'bred breeds with very fine bordering on almost "wispy" type coats the Moser 2.3mm fine #10 wide may prove a more successful blade to use. We give a good deal of information on both blades, please read and compare both if applicable.

It is worth mentioning that the manner in which the operator uses this type of machines! It is crucial to the quality of the performance and clip that the operator takes a "relaxed" approach to the clipping task! DO NOT rush the clipping and at all times allows the machine to glide through the coat, rather than attempting to push the clipper at a pace faster than it can cope.(This applies to most makes of clippers!) The operators hand should be an instrument of "guidance" NOT attempting to "push!" All too often those clipping appear to clip at a pace that is not commensurate with the blade - whether traditional or detachable, or what make of machine is used! This must be acknowledged and applied from the start!

Other factors such as individual length of a cutting stroke is crucial - short lengths, rather than long "blows" produce far better results than clipping in long "lawn mower" stripes. Criss cross clipping action in limited areas rather than open up extensive areas give a more professional finish. At all times the blade face must be flat to the animal's body surface. "Aquaplane" and the result may well be "tramlines!"

Frequent oiling of blades whatever machine used is essential too! Lubrication is the only way all makes of blades can keep cool and running producing a performance that gives a satisfactory clip. The Aesculap cordless clipper is no different! A small quantity of oil every 3/5 minutes should be the discipline! "A little and often!" should be the guideline.

LONG HAIRED CAT & RABBIT OWNERS:
Many machines are too noisy and may suffer from vibration with the result they seriously frighten the cat or rabbit, making future clipping difficult to say the least! Vibration for an already nervous animal purely adds to its panic! You can test a clipper for vibration by simply holding it to your cheek bone with the motor running! The new Aesculap FAV5 machines do not have a vibration problem and the motor tone is more acceptable to a nervous animal.

Cats are not one of the clipped species that are generally easy to handle and occasionally a cordless machine may offer the better option -that being the case with the "Hybrid" the opportunity to update to 100% battery power is an option that can at any time be taken up.

Many long haired cat or rabbit owners will find they need access to "detachable blades" to perform basic routine husbandry tasks satisfactorily! Our tests convinced us that the Aesculap Fav5 CL GT306 and Hybrid machines are perfect for clipping any of the many long haired and often highly nervous cat breeds.

The narrow A5 detachable blade range of various manufacturers' will allow you to a wide choice in blade selection for all nature of tasks you may wish or need to carry out! An ideal choice of blades also for those who have to tackle the daunting task of cutting away Matts from both long haired cats and rabbit breeds.

DOMESTIC PET RABBIT OWNERS:
The Aesculap "Hybrid" is perfect for routine and hygiene use necessary for many domestic pet breeds of both long and short haired rabbits. Its motor tone and size suiting your pet and you! Owners of rabbit breeds comprising of large numbers with a valuable commercial fibre, or requiring routine husbandry tasks will find this clipper perfect for all types of "body clipping, or fibre shearing", and the wide range of blades available can be used to cope with every requirement.

ANGORA GOAT SMALL FLOCK OWNERS:
The Aesculap "Hybrid" makes owning a quality machine highly affordable for the smaller flock owner! Light and compact, - select the right sized narrow or wide A5 blades and it is perfect for removing the valuable "coat" product of the Angora whether goat or rabbit. With a wide range of A5 detachable blades that can be selected for whatever the task confronting you, you will have no problem in seeking a solution to your needs.

ALPACCA SMALL STUD OWNERS:
Many small studs of alpacas with numbers below the necessity of owning a shear machine are successfully clipped or annually "sheared" with small detachable A5 blade type clippers. Generally with the lack of powerful cordless machines, mains machines have been used. Now the Aesculap FAV5 CL or the "more affordable" Aesculap Hybrid" offers the opportunity to clip what is not one of the easiest species to tackle- in either mains cordless mode! The smooth low tone notes of the FAV5/Hybrid are beneficial to the operator and perfect for your animals in ensuring that minimum stress is created. Using similar wide blades recommended for full body horse clipping and switching to a narrow blade where it is felt more suitable offers considerable flexibility.

As with equine full body clipping, so with the Alpaca, the correct blade selection is crucial and again both the Moser 2.3mm standard #10 wide and the Aesculap 2.4mm standard full wide #10 blade are in our opinion by far the best blades suited for quality clipping performance of a high value fleece.

+ Another impressive and eye catching Andis clipper, which is bound to make a big "impression" in the UK dog market.

- As yet very little to find fault with!

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
A mains powered clipper with the ability to change the cord pack for a battery, thus changing the usage mode from mains power to cordless. (Please note: To convert the "Power Groom" to a cordless machine you need to purchase in addition both a battery and charger unit as these are not supplied with the mains version.)

The striking colour, and the white contrast of the name font somehow draws the eye towards this clipper and straight away you can see the Andis family resemblance, certainly from the head down to the on/off switch, the clipper bears the same features as is found on all the AGC models.

Described as both lighter and smaller than other Andis clippers of its type it is altogether a very attractive machine. The girth of the clipper is just very slightly enlarged making it not quite as slim as the other AGC models. However the few extra mm's gained on the girth are more than compensated for in the reduced length of the machine which creates a really "compact" feeling when you hold it for the first time. The weight distribution is even and when you exchange the cord pack for a battery the balance is still retained with no weight imbalance at the rear end.

It is not the practice with modern battery and dual mains/battery machines to measure wattage; manufactures preferring to measure the power at the blade end. Andis assure us the comparable power is in the 35 to 40 watt range, and practical use suggests the clipper is as powerful as all the other 35w Andis machines.
The "Power Groom" offers a dual role either used with the cord pack in mains mode - as supplied, or by the additional purchase - unless you already own one - of an Andis battery unit (You will of course also need a charger to re-charge the battery!) Vets could clearly be in the running for this machine as it would be great used in mains mode in the surgery and very useful in a cordless mode out in the field or down on the farm.

For the professional groomer the comfortable size and weight, the ability to run in either mains or battery mode and the exceptional quiet operational noise level will all be appealing factors when considering a purchase.
Well built with a shatter proof housing the clipper is remarkable quiet, emitting a considerably lower noise level compared to other Andis machines and indeed most other mains powered dog clipper, not that any of them might be referred to as noisy! Our tested production model was so quiet as to lead us to the belief that it must rank as one of the quietest machine on the market.

Supplied with a size #10 - 1.5mm "Ceramic Edge" it is the first of the Andis models to be supplied with this type of blade in the UK. The "Ceramic Edge" blade has a ceramic cutter with a steel bottom plate or comb blade. It is said that ceramic blades after they have "bedded" in which is normally a period of about 8 hours on continual use perform to a better standard than steel blades and last longer. Ceramic blades are often described as being noisy for the initial "bedding in" period although our production test model with a ceramic blade fitted was extremely quiet!

Blade attachment is easy to operate, smooth and crisp. Under prolonged use the motor remains cool running, with just the hint of mild vibration, Cleaning and servicing the head has been made easy by good and thoughtful design. Low maintenance is a feature of this machine. The on/off switch position is just about accessible in an emergence situation; we would have preferred it slightly higher up!

The current Andis blade range of either "Ultra Edge" or "Ceramic Edge" offers one of the most comprehensive for most grooming situations. Those considering making a change of machine will find the Andis AGRC Power Groom equally at home with Oster or indeed most other detachable blades. We really would like to see clippers of this quality supplied in hard cases.

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

+ Outstanding cordless professional small animal clipper fulfilling many roles. Peasridge rate this one of the best for the price! Fast re-charge time. Constant reliability! Excellent value considering the quality!

- Hard really to find much to criticise - maybe a larger blade release lever would have been more user friendly - although in fairness it compares well with other makes ! The On/off switch could be more accessible.

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION :
When we saw the "Saphir" for the first time at the major German Trade Fair "Interzoo" in 2008 we felt we were looking at a machine that had an ability to bring a new bench mark to the world of the small animal cordless machine.

Several months later when we received a production model to try and test - many veterinary practices all over the UK confirmed our suspicions - a potential winner!

All the vets who tested the machine asked the same question - how soon can you supply one!

Heiniger are renowned Internationally for their large animal clippers and perhaps even more so for the high quality shearing equipment they manufactures, so say nothing of probably manufacturing one of the most comprehensive cutter and comb blade range designed for every shearing possibility.

In over two decades we have seen Heiniger establish themselves in the UK - both in the field of sheep shearing and also in the equine world, facing strong traditional competition, to become one of the leading players in the UK market, and a major International manufacturer highly respected both in respect of sheep shearing and large animal clipping.

The "Saphir" as we confidently predicted soon established Heiniger as a first choice amongst a large number of veterinary practitioners both in the UK, Europe and internationally. Vets - wherever they practise seek reliability and quality combined! Certainly the Heiniger "Saphir" has since being launched offered both Against traditional veterinary clippers it set new bench marks for quality, shape, weight and battery reliability which will be eagerly grasped by the veterinary end user.

Whilst cordless clipper are not always the preferred choice amongst professional dog groomers with the vast majority selecting the corded models, the "Saphir" will no doubt be a serious contender with the many mobile groomers and those domestic pet owners who prefer the advantages of cordless compared to mains machines.

Professional Groomers will be pleased to read that as with most detachable blade taking machines the Heiniger "Saphir" can be used with any of your existing detachable A5 type blades including those of Oster, Andis, Aesculap, Moser and Wahl manufacture, as well as the newly created range of fifteen blades currently available from Heiniger which closely mirror the Oster range in the various sizes.

Whilst the "Saphir" has obvious attraction for the owners of nervous horses, and is for specific tasks, when fitted with the correct blade, a good choice - we do have "reservations" about its ability to perform full body clipping even with Moser wide blades which are probably for most horses the best for the purpose. With many variations in the coat texture of horses - especially cobs and natives we would be nervous recommending it for the job of "full-body clipping" - preferring a machine with a more powerful motor.(Aesculap Fav5 CL)

Features including the low noise levels plus relative none existence of vibration will be especially appealing to the end user. When doing the fetlocks or hogging try switching to a #40 or even a #30 blade for those denser and more coarse areas and clip freestyle to avoid going to close. An attachment comb could be considered.

The "Saphir" is delightfully lightweight - a mere 0.44kg - even with battery attached, nice and compact - under 205mm/8-inches including a narrow blade attached , comfortable to both hold, well balanced and easy to operate whether in a male or female hand. The clipper body casing design is moulded to give a slimmer and improved grip just were you hold it! The powerful 35 watt motor has soft motor note that is instantly associated with high quality engineering of the Germanic type. Free of vibration its single speed motor provides 2650 double cutting strokes per minute.

As a veterinary clipper it will invariably be judged against the Oster Power Pro Mk II - the clipper almost universally used by UK vets! Sadly the new Mk II Oster has not in our experience proved to be reliable in so far as the battery unit has been concerned especially!

Many vets have experienced frustration as well as additional expense when discovering Mk I batteries in their possession would not fit the new Mk II battery charger with expensive knock on costs if your Mk I charger failed and you had to replace it! If that was not bad enough one too often found the battery failed to charge correctly!

Another annoying feature - although in fairness most vets accepted it - probably due to no alternative - the Power Pro is noticeably heavy and slightly unbalanced when connected to either Mk I or Mk II batteries. Battery weight clearly affects the handling balance in our opinion.

Now there is an alternative - the "Saphir" has a lightweight battery at 100grams compared to the Oster battery at twice the weight (200grams)

The "Saphir" from the end user perception has to be the nicer balanced machine to use! The operating feel of the "Saphir" is robust powerful and professional - it offers a confident clip whether surgical or more prolonged. One critical observation - the rear mounted switch is not in our favourite position for an emergency stop! We would have preferred the switch to be more accessible.

The "Saphir" is powered by a lightweight Lithium-ion batteries - it is supplied with two for continuous clipping. Lithium ion batteries are common in consumer electronics and are one of the most popular types of battery for portable electronics, with one of the best energy-to-weight ratios; they have no memory effect and a slow loss of charge when not in use.

Each battery has a clip time of 50 minutes with a fast re-charge time of 45 minutes Lithium-ion batteries (sometimes abbreviated Li-ion batteries) are a type of rechargeable battery in which lithium ion moves between the anode and cathode. The lithium ion moves from the anode to the cathode during discharge and in reverse, from the cathode to the anode, when charging.

The light and compact charger unit provides two charging bays. If the clipper with battery is placed in the charging bay, (Bay with raised back surround.) the charger will charge the clipper. The spare battery in its charging bay however will not be charged. Remove the clipper from its charging bay, the charger will then charge the spare battery. A red led light indicating charging is in progress, a green led light indicating charging has completed. In the rear of the charger casing slots enable it to be wall mounted if required

Field use relative to battery clip time is a concern to many vets on farm and other visits, however with two batteries, you have a total of about 100 plus minutes clipping time - each battery lasting just under one hour. In the light of this Heiniger inform us that a separate car charging unit is considered not necessary. If a vet starts with two freshly charged batteries in the morning he/she should complete the daily visits without experiencing charging problems.

As with most detachable blade taking machines the "Saphir" can be used with any of your existing detachable A5 type blades including those of Oster, Andis, Aesculap, Moser and Wahl manufacture, as well as the newly created range of fifteen blades currently available from Heiniger which closely mirror the Oster range in the various sizes.

The "Saphir is supplied without a blade in consideration that most end user purchasing this excellent machine will be either vets or dog groomer and therefore are likely to have their own detachable preferred blades. The Heiniger blade range offers two surgical type blades - a size #50/0.4mm and a size #40/0.8mm. Close blades sizes #30/0.8 and #15/1.5mm. A popular size #10/1.8mm and both sizes #9/2mm and #8.5/2.8mm. Body blades include skip tooth and full blades in sizes #7/3.2mm, #5/6mm and #4/9.5mm. A toe blade - size #5/8 at 0.8mm and a wide blade #10W/2.3mm.

Most standard type attachment comb can be fitted to blades from blades size #50 to size #8.5. Blades of all makes below this size do not accept attachment combs, due to the increasing size of the comb blade. Also combs will not fit the "detachable" wide type blades as used for large dog breeds or for full body horse clipping. Attachment combs are designed to leave a greater length of un-cut hair than the blade alone would normally leave. As such they are used mainly by dog groomers and domestic pet owners. It is important to remember however that if you use an attachment comb you must be very particular with the grooming of the coat. There MUST NOT be any tangles or knots - otherwise the comb may come off the blade, refusing to pass through the hair, and the clipping process may be painful to the animal!

The "Saphir" comes packaged in a superbly laid out hard carry case - well designed and perfect for the "on the move" practitioner, for storage in surgery, or the mobile groomer, or pet owner - even down to three compartments to store your surgical or other blades! Few manufactures provide such refreshing attention to detail! One of the nice aspects of this well laid out case is that all the items store well in provided compartments - even down to the charger cable - usually impossible to pack away!

We were highly impressed with Heiniger consideration of consumer needs and especially their very precise and well written instruction manual text and supporting images all of which are done in a most informative and easily understood manner to embrace both the professional and novice user! This is refreshing to see at a time when many non-professional are turning to the skill of clipping and fulfils the requirements of current UK legislation in safely standard.

PEASRIDGE CONCLUSION!
The Heiniger "Saphir" will surely be eagerly welcomed by many veterinary practices should they be in the market for whatever reason to purchase a new machine. We are confident the Heiniger "Saphir" will make a sound investment!
In our opinion dog groomers will find the "Saphir" has a lot to offer against most mains machines and with the new improved battery power a serious contender. For domestic pet owners - cordless offers many advantages.

+ Smart looking, - a handy trimmer for many tidying up tasks. Nice to see a hard case with a small trimmer!

- If what we are given to understand about recharge time is correct then this is far to long! Blade range bit limited against its main competitor.

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
"Ergonomically" designed (another way of saying interesting shape!) This is a smart, compact, well-balanced trimmer with "snap-on" detachable blades. Made in the Far East under the Lister label (we understand) it has a "specially engineered" permanent magnetic motor to create minimum noise and vibration, - the noise level is quite good, more a soft purr, and the vibration ratings are certainly good.

Not as light as The Wahl Pro Series Re-chargeable (a direct competitor) but it handles well. Already-tensioned detachable snap on blades avoid the fiddle of alignment and screw fixing. The use of plastic parts is said to keep the blades cool! Blade choice is rather limited when compared to the Wahl Pro-Series.

The ability to be able to switch to mains mode when the battery goes flat is a useful feature. The battery is said to be long lasting and can be re-charged many times. Written information on matters such as re-charge times is hard to find, but we are told by Lister UK that it is 8/9 hours with a clip time of 45 minutes - which if correct -is very disappointing to say the least!

+ One of the few cordless professional clippers with two batteries. Fast re-charge time. Very compact unit!

- Batteries seem to be rather "plagued" with faults! In many outlets only sold with one battery! Gets a touch expensive when you start to buy extras!!

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
Many veterinary practices are already familiar and probably users of the Oster Power pro clippers, and will be interested to see the latest Mark II model.

Introduced as the successor to the popular "green" bodied Mk 1 Oster Power pro (A few other colours existed as well) the clipper head and hand grip shape basically remains unchanged other than for the casing covering which has been clad with a pleasant soft "non slip" material with a rubberise feel. The new battery attachment is however slimmer and now follows the shape of the clipper. One instantly notices the improved balance the new styled battery affords compared to the rather poorly balance earlier Mk 1 model!

Clipper and battery are claimed to be around 15% lighter than the earlier model! Oster state that the clipper drive lever delivers a more powerful sweep as a result of being driven by a slightly more powerful motor - thus it is claimed the Mk2 clipper gives a greater and superior cutting performance! The benefit of this would presumably be particularly noticeable when clipping for example, a horse using a wide detachable blade.

Unlike the way it is normally supplied in the UK, Peasridge offer the Oster Power Pro complete with TWO batteries (In the US it is also sold with two batteries for continuous clipping!) We feel customers will require the same - continuous clipping facility - rather than have the added expense of purchasing an additional battery at the time of purchase or later!

Considering Oster still supply their mains powered A5 clippers in boxes, it is refreshing, to see a case of such quality being supplied with their cordless machine! The clipper is beautifully packaged in a spacious lightweight aluminium case - weighing fully loaded - clipper battery and accessories - a mere 2.4kg (if you buy from Peasridge due to the fact it is then supplied with not one but two batteries!) Carefully padded with foam cut out compartments (unlikely these will last long with normal use but they look good when new!) - both clipper and the entire accessories are stored safely. All very nicely designed and laid out!

Case dimension:
Height: Less than 12-inches/30cm allowing for the folded handle and locking catches
Length: Just over 11-inches/28.3cm
Depth: 4.75-inches/12cm
Un laden weight: approx 1.8kgs

The battery unit is said to be "improved" with the introduction of the new type of NIMH battery units. However it has to be said battery reliability on new models has been "disappointing" to date - resulting in the clipper being downgraded in our star assessment!

From a veterinary perspective battery reliability has far below what one should expect from such an expensive machine! Until recently there has been little choice for practices seeking an alternative - however now Heiniger - the Swiss manufacturer - have introduced a very smart competitor - The Saphir" which is well worth considering.

For those who want to know…………. the nickel-metal hydride battery, abbreviated NiMH, is a type of rechargeable or storage battery similar to another well know battery type the "Nickel-cadmium" (NiCd) but using a hydrogen-absorbing alloy for the negative electrode instead of cadmium. As in NiCd batteries, the positive electrode is nickel oxyhydroxide (NiOOH) A NiMH battery can have two to three times the capacity of an equivalent size NiCd. However, compared to the lithium-ion battery the volumetric energy density is lower and self-discharge is higher.

It is said one useful feature of these batteries is they do not have the annoying memory feature as often common with some earlier types of batteries, but you will need to recharge and discharge these batteries several times before they reaches their "optimum" performance when first purchased! Also if the battery is not used for a period of time, or has been stored away unused re-charging will again be necessary.

Whilst the manufacturer claims the battery delivers "state of the art intelligence charging to maximum its working life, they do add that every few months if you are not a regular user you should switch on (remover the blade first) and run the clipper until the battery is fully discharged. Then recharge accordingly. This could well apply to horse owners, who engage in seasonal clipping with a long spell of in-action in between. If you are the typical busy dog groomer or veterinarian and use a cordless machine, well you probably need not bother!

When fully discharged the normal recharge time for the battery is between 50 and 60 minutes. You can check the running status of your battery at any time by placing it in the slot provided on the charger and observing the LED light in the centre.

LED light on the front alerts you to the state of play……….
Red light continuous - indicates re-charging is required.
Green light continuous - indicates the clipper now ready for use
Red blinking light - You need to invest in a new battery - Red light says - "kaput"

The charger is far more compact and smaller than the old black charger of the previous model, and the two slots for spare blades have been done away with! Of course this is all about a single battery so only one recharging slot also!

There is a connection point provided on the rear on the charger for a plug to power the recharge unit off any 12v supply such as in a vehicle. This is not currently available in the UK but expected shortly when it will be available as an optional extra - at extra cost!

A slot in the groove of the charger assists in ensuring the battery is correctly offered into the slot for recharging - so no fear of getting it incorrect! So easy you could do it in the dark!

As with the previous Mk1 model you can re-charge with the clipper handpiece attached to the battery or just the battery on its own. One small but useful as well as thoughtful addition to the charger unit is that a set of four tiny suction pad feet have been added to the underside of the charger to ensure it stays put and does not slip off a shelf or work surface!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

+ Value for money clipper. A real "gem" no matter what you clip! Buy it! Especially whilst they offer TWO blades!)

- Very hard to "knock" this one! We have knocked it slightly on a "touch" noisy hum in some models, and past minor faults as mentioned below

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
When we first saw this little compact trimmer lurking about on a shelf in an office at Wahl UK - a good few years ago now - we immediately recognised its potential. How it has proved us right over the years! A highly versatile gem!

Used either in cordless or mains powered mode it has established a role for itself in almost every clipping field, finding favour with cattle folk (beef or dairy) horse owners, hundreds of vets, and pet owners. Very hard to fault this trimmer - it really is super!

Like any mass-produced product, and there are literally thousands sold to happy customers, it has had the odd problem from time to time but in the main it has remained trouble free. (One weak spot proved to be in the cable at the trimmer end where the cord enters if used excessively in mains mode.) Batteries, which can be re-placed, seem to last between 5/7 years with average use. If you run out of battery power you just plug in the charger adapter and carry on clipping! Fast re-charge well within the hour!

Its great strengths are versatility, comfortable to use, mobility, useable in both power modes (cordless or mains) Detachable type blades supported with a super blade range for a machine of its size, plus great value - especially with two blades!
