+ GERMAN! - Can one say more? Exceptional quality - built to last!

- Expensive? Yes! Such is the price of Quality!

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:
If you want a small but powerful professional clipper, both comfortable and light to hold, as well as relatively quiet with a smooth tone to use on either your Angora goats, or rabbits, - a clipper which is designed to give years of service, then the German made Aesculap Favorita II is probably the only one made to fit that criteria!

Large and cumbersome livestock machines or the cheaper economy type dog clippers are fine! Thousands of people use them, many hundreds are repaired every year, not always the fault of the clippers, end-users contribute to many unnecessary repairs, but equally - many are repaired due to quality faults!

The Aesculap Favourita II is probably the only professional small animal-grooming clipper still manufactured to a standard in which quality, reliability and long levity are the prime concerns. Allowing for the superb engineering which is a hall mark of any Aesculap product, one impressive factor is the lack of nervousness exhibited by animals when correctly clipped with this machine. For the smaller of our livestock or domestic pets the lack of vibration and low noise levels make a welcome change, and reduce the stress factor so often experienced when clipping.

Made by Aesculap who are part of the of the German company - B Braun GmbH - a multinational company, internationally famous for decades, for its pioneering and leading involvement in both veterinary and human medical equipment. Today recognised as the specialists in their field, the design, engineering and finished quality of all their products is typically German and virtually unbeatable!

Aesculap have never been cheap! An Aesculap product will always costs more than a more cheaply made item, but often buying the best quality and paying a little extra, reaps lasting dividends in the long run! A lesson so often learnt the hard way!

Designed over a decade ago, it is today still unmatched. The innovative design and attractive style of the slim shaped handpiece, incorporates a combination of balance and lightness, to ensure the operator precision clipping to the highest standards. We particularly like the side positioned "on-off" switch designed and positioned for easy and safe operation.

Some observers may comment on the lower cutting stroke ratio in comparison to other machines and may question the power output of the Favorita II. However it is really a matter of motor torque produced and the corresponding power thus generated by the motor. This is what drives the blades and they if correctly designed, manufactured, and suitably selected for the task in hand they will perform the actual cutting to satisfaction!

The Aesculap German made motors are more than equal to any of the many other machines available and often superior in torque values, with the lower cutting speed offering a much smoother vibration free running, far quieter noise level, and definitely far longer life expectancy than higher cutting stroke producing motors.

High cutting strokes whilst seemingly attractive can and often do cause various problems with both clipper heads and blades, and frequently lead to a number of performance related problems. Often a higher degree of routine maintenance is required.

A number of features lift this machine into a superior category, including the ball bearing universal motor, which provides great durability and long life, with almost total vibration free running. The ventilation system eliminates aspects of overheating, ensuring suitability for prolonged use. The air filter can be easily cleaned and the motor is encased in an unbreakable casing.

The Aesculap Favorita II is also an excellent choice beyond the realms of it main use as a dog clipping machine, for clipping Angora Goats and many breeds of Rabbits. In fact all over Europe it is one of the recognised clippers for the Angora breeds.

The GT746 blade is recommended for use on both Angora goats and rabbits.

The Aesculap Favorita II when fitted with an Aesculap GT749 wide blade has the potential to clip any nervous horse!

PLEASE NOTE:
The Aesculap Favourita II is sold for goat and rabbit clipping without a blade, and whilst you would be recommended to use the GT 746 - the suggested blade for the Angora or rabbit breeds, you may prefer other blades in the range for the different hair coat textures of the various goat and rabbit breeds.

IMPORTANT! - CLIPPER VOLTAGE RATING -
The electrical machines we offer for sale are principally for use with the electrical supply system operation in the UK namely 240volt. This machine is there equipped with a suitable voltage motor and component parts and will have a supporting identification plate on the casing. In addition to working on the UK electrical system it can normally be used on any European 220/240 volt system.

However it is supplied with a UK 3-pin plug and therefore will need an appropriate "adaptor" plug into which the UK 3-pin will fit. Whilst these are not readily available to us they can be usually easily obtained at your local electrical outlet.

Customers outside of the UK and European Countries should check their electrical supply rating and seek professional advice from a qualified electrician.

USA Customers should note that with a national 110-volt electrical supply system 240-volt products will need specialist converter equipment and may still not work. It is recommended that you seek professional advice from a qualified electrician before making a purchase.

+ GERMAN! - Can one say more? Ultimate engineering and quality - built to last! Pure BMW!

- Expensive? Unashamedly - Yes! Pure quality has a price!

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION:

From AESCULAP of GERMANY - "One of the World's finest engineered A5 detachable blade using dog clippers made!"

With over two decades of manufacturing the Favorita II - probably the best dog clipper made with a long and proven history of reliability - now Aesculap have stormed the dog grooming world - lifting manufacturing standards to a new level with the introduction of their FAV5 - their first ever detachable A5 blade using clipper!

The FAV5 is a powerful machine with a smooth running and sounding motor which apart from being typically Aesculap in tone - it inspires confidence in its ability to generate power for professional use. Now with the power and expertise of Aesculap engineering you can also fit not only your existing detachable A5 blades - whether Oster, Andis, Laube, Thrive or Wahl, but Aesculap have also created a full range of Aesculap high quality German detachable A5 which closely mirror the sizes of Oster other similar makes of A5 blades.

German made product have a long history of being engineered to perfection, and as one would expect from one of the top German veterinary manufacturer, the Aesculap FAV5 inherits the same reputation for reliability - especially important for any professional dog parlour clipper where reliability is the keyword .

Peasridge was one of the few privileged to conduct intensive practical field trials in a number of professional grooming parlours and can say with complete confidence that the FAV5 fully lived up to the very high standards of performance we have come to expect from Aesculap over many years.

A number of engineering features lift this machine into a superior category including placing it ahead of various competitors :

A ball bearing universal motor provides great durability

A smooth low noise level motor tone - the hallmark of Aesculap quality!

The expectancy of a long working life of reliability

A smooth running motor with low cutting stroke ratio generating virtually a total absence of vibration.

A ventilation system eliminating overheating in prolonged use.

Easily cleaned air filter

The motor and component parts in an unbreakable body casing

Made in Germany, by skilled German engineers

One year manufacturer's warranty.

Manufactured to a standard rarely seen these days.

DOG GROOMERS:
Introducing the FAV5 to your busy grooming business and assures you of reliability, with long levity of product and the ability to be able to use any of your favourite A5 type detachable blades, whether Andis, Laube, Moser, Oster, Thrive or Wahl, thus saving considerable expenditure in additional blade purchase. Plus you can relax in the confidence of Aesculap after sales support - considered second to none!

For the average dog grooming parlour a heavy investment in blades will always have a consideration on the make and model of clipper used when replacement is being considered. With the Aesculap FAV5 you can be assured all your favourite detachable A5 blades will fit and can be used as you desire.

Yes - the retail price is considerably higher than other more economy machines. Aesculap make no apology for producing high quality product without compromise! A superior product usually works out much cheaper in maintenance over the many years of service it gives.

Whilst many dog groomers may feel the purchase price is considerably higher than they wish to necessarily invest, consider the more regular repair and maintenance bills of the more economy priced machines and the financial effect of a robust business being inconvenienced with mechanical breakdowns.

.
EQUINE OWNERS:

Whilst projected at the dog grooming market, the equine owner with a clipper shy horse the FAV5 must surely be the answer to your clipping nightmare! At lasts a professional and powerful small clipper with a level of working noise that most horses will not freak over.

On all our extensive pre production tests on nervous horses whether hairy cobs or natives we found the smooth and soft noise of the clipper blades when operating plus the lack of any vibration made for a more contented horse and a stress freer operator. It is important the operator acquires knowledge of the various detachable wide blades which are suitable for the task in hand. Seek advice - blade knowledge is important!

Early tests suggested that fitted with the correct blade this clipper had the potential to be perfect for use with the "nervous" horse. Results were quiet literally "staggering!"

Later when the FAV 5 was in production, to avoid customers committing to purchase before they knew with certainty we have frequently loan FAV5 models to nervous horse owners all over Europe and those who primarily had horses which could not be clipped without sedation.

On ALL occasions the feedback was positive! Many who loaned initially to test, subsequently purchased solely because now for the first time they could clip their horse and in many cases sedation was not required! These results bordered on the "unbelievable!"

We certainly believe this clipper could one day be the fore-runner of the clipper of the future! Not only its acceptance by nervous horses, but the size and overall weight is perfect for what is surly an hour plus of clipping. If that was not enough one last and huge advantage for the horse owner who maybe clips a few times a year - detachable blades - not more tensioning which can be such a "headache" for some.

Whilst probably is a decade or more away- it would be ..........one huge step for the equine owner!

Meanwhile for those who struggle to clip their horses its merits are awesome! That said you do need to select the right blades! So consult us before you contemplate purchasing!

Our own field trials suggest convincingly that both the Moser 2.3mm standard #10 wide and the Aesculap 2.4mm standard full wide #10 blade are the blades best suited to equine full body clipping, whist other may give a result these two blades have proved to date highly successful.

It is worth mentioning that the mode or manner in which the operator uses the machine - is - crucial to the quality of the performance and clip. This is especially true when confronted with a dense coated cob or native breed. It is "essential" the operator takes a "relaxed" approach to the clipping task, does not rush the clipping and at all times allows the machine to glide through the coat, rather than attempting to push the clipper. This must be emphasised at the start!

Other factors such as individual length of cut is crucial - short lengths produce far better results than clipping in long "lawn mower" stripes. Criss cross clipping action in confined areas rather than open up extensive areas give a more professional finish. At all times the blade face must be flat to the animal's body surface.

VETERINARIANS

For the laboratory or veterinarian - where reliability and continuous use is of paramount importance - a machine of this calibre will easily undertake large or small animal work whether in a university laboratory or busy surgery!

LONG HAIRED CAT & RABBIT OWNERS:
Our extensive test convince us it is ideal for clipping any long hair nervous cat breeds due to its ultra low noise tone, as well as the absence of vibration. In addition to long haired cats it is perfect for use on the many breeds of both long and short haired rabbits.

ANGORA GOAT SMALL FLOCK OWNERS:
Light and compact it is perfect for removing the valued coat product of the Angora whether goat or rabbit. With a wide range of A5 detachable blades that can be selected for whatever the task confronting you, you will have no problem in seeking a solution.

ALPACCA SMALL STUD OWNERS:
Many small studs of alpacas are successfully clipped or shorn annually with small detachable A5 blade clippers. The smooth low tone notes of the FAV5 are beneficial to the operator and perfect for your animals in ensuring that minimum stress is created.

As with equine full body clipping, so with the Alpaca, the correct blade selection is crucial and again both the Moser 2.3mm standard #10 wide and the Aesculap 2.4mm standard full wide #10 blade are in our opinion by far the best blades suited for quality clipping performance of a high value fleece.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

+A highly impressive clipper of exceptional German quality combined with outstanding design and engineering skills. Both the previous FAV5's models (mains and cordless) proved themselves in many clipping fields! The "Hybrid" makes this top quality clipper affordable to all

- We have never approved of rear end positioning of on/off switch for emergency use

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION :
The Aesculap Fav5 CL "Hybrid" is basically a Fav5 CL GT306 cordless handpiece, supplied without the two battery packs and charger unit, but instead has a "corded adapter" which is inserted in the rear of the handpiece in the same way as you insert the battery unit. This then provides you with a mains corded machine at a reduced price to the Aesculap Fav5 GT105 (corded) machine, plus the ability to convert to a cordless machine by the purchase of batteries and charger unit, should you wish.

The "Hybrid" in the corded mode has a slightly higher cutting stroke frequency 2500/min. However when you convert to the battery mode (to become the Fav5 CL GT306 cordless model) the cutting stroke rate is reduced to 2300/min. Otherwise apart from the mode of operation it is virtually identical, having the same slim shaped handpiece, and compact length. Like both the Fav5's it has the same good sized blade release button, (not the mean type supplied by many manufacturers) and a clever bit of typically German design and engineering that hold the blade release clip open until you refit a blade!

For the customer seeking traditional German high quality in both design and engineering the "Hybrid" offers the opportunity to acquire one of the most outstanding high quality professional clippers seen on the market in recent years. It accepts all your existing A5 detachable blades of various makes, and is a considerably more affordable price than either the Fav5 CL GT306 cordless or Fav5 GT105 mains corded machines.

The Aesculap Fav5 "Hybrid" inherits features common to both the Aesculap Fav5 CL GT306 cordless and the Fav5 GT105 mains corded machines both of which have established themselves as highly versatile "detachable" A5 blade powerful professional clippers of exceptional low noise level with virtually no vibration, which will take all makes of recognised A5 type detachable pre- tensioned blades both narrow and wide. Created for the dog grooming market, they have both shown proven potential involving larger animals such as horses and alpacas, providing the right blade is selected.

One instantly recognised feature when you first switch the machine on - is the smooth unmistakable "Aesculap" motor tone! Aesculap clippers have always been noted for motors that emitted smoother and lower tones than many other similar machines and the "Hybrid" inherits the quieter motor feature with vibration eradicated. The powerful driven motor whether in battery or corded mode, with the use of "detachable type blades will enable you to be more ambitious in your clipping scope! The "Hybrid" like the FAV5 CL is compact - so compact most horse owners tend to dismiss it as too small - only to be proven wrong once they try it! The body casing has been carefully designed to provide a slim line "shaped hold" for maximum "grip" comfort when operating.

The "Hybrid" FAV5 CL can be used for clipping a nervous horse. Conclusive tests show that fitted with the right blade, (This IS important!) and clipping approached in the right manner, like both the Fav5 CL GT306 and the Fav5 GT105 it can be used for full body clipping without stress or undue pressure for the operator and horse, invariably making calling the vet a thing of the past! Many horse owners have tendency to be judgemental and quick to dismiss the both the Fav5 CL GT306 and the Fav5 GT105 as "Far too small!" Understandable if you have been accustom to those "last century" machines of the late 1990's but before you make assumptions, just try them! They certainly won't suit everybody or every horse, but for many they will make a huge and lasting "clipping" difference! The world has moved on since the days of the 12inch long bulky machines with heavy battery packs!

If, as an equine owner you contemplate one of these machines then do make a point of contacting us to discuss the matter in detail before you purchase. There are a number of questions about your horse/s we need to ask and know the answers too in order to best advise you, as well as making you aware of the use of the right "detachable wide blades" for full body clipping.

DOG GROOMERS:
The "Hybrid" will appeal to many dog groomers! One has noticed the increase in the numbers of professional groomers who were normally always traditional users of "mains machines" only, changing to the Aesculap Fav5 CL GT306 cordless as word of mouth spread in dog grooming circles!

This new generation of cordless clippers are a vast improvement to those of previous decade with major advances in battery technology. Batteries inserted into the handpiece have become vastly lighter and as a result far better balance when in use. They have become less unreliable in terms of holding charge, as well as less expensive, and far easier to maintain in peak performance given that you use and store them correctly. Quality cordless machines such as the Aesculap Fav5 CL and Hybrid when in battery mode, have been quickly appreciated in dog grooming circles whether in Europe or American, and eagerly sought when groomers are assured of high quality and a machine that will allow them the continuing use their existing blades!

PET OWNERS - HOME CLIPPING:
Most start with a cheap fixed blade clipper only to learn that despite all that is written on the packaging - this is not the machine - nor blade for the family pet clip!

Those with "clipped breeds, not seeking the standard of show clipping, just simple husbandry clipping the "A5 type detachable blade and appropriate clipper is the machine needed, and for many who lack the experience of the professional groomer, yet are equally capable of clipping their dog - the "Hybrid" is a perfect choice.....and more at an affordable price!

EQUINE OWNERS:
The Aesculap FAV5 CL "Hybrid" like the Aesculap FAV5 Cordless offers owners of almost impossible to clip nervous horses a real chance for the first time to clip your animal! - In many cases without the need for sedation and the associated veterinary cost! However If your horse is not of a nervous temperament then this machine is NOT for you!

On all our extensive tests on nervous horses with the mains and battery versions - whether thor'bred, hairy cobs or natives - we found the smooth and soft noise of the clipper blades when operating plus the lack of any vibration made for a more contented horse and a stress freer operator. On so many occasions those testing it for the first time on their really nervous horses before they subsequently purchased freely admitted they had experienced a "first " in the experience of "normal" clipping (often to without the added cost of veterinary sedation!)

We would stress that as good as any clipping machine is - and all the Aesculap FAV5's are in a league of their own when it comes to clipping nervous horses, it is important the operator acquires a knowledge of the various detachable wide blades which are suitable for the task in hand. No two horses have identical coat textures, clips can and often do, vary from season to season. There are a number of "wide" blades on the market, not all have been designed "exclusively" for full body clipping of horses. Intended and designed for the large dog breeds essentially, perhaps they happen to clip a horse! Question is ....Will they clip yours? Different blades will perform better on various clipping tasks! Seek advice - blade knowledge is important! When you use the A5 detachable blade using type clipper, you need to think and clip differently to the traditional type machine and blades.

Our own field trials with both mains and cordless versions suggest convincingly that both the Moser 2.3mm standard #10 wide and the Aesculap 2.4mm standard full wide #10 blade are the two blades best suited to equine full body clipping. Whilst others may give a result, these two blades have proved themselves highly successful. In the case of certain thor'bred breeds with very fine bordering on almost "wispy" type coats the Moser 2.3mm fine #10 wide may prove a more successful blade to use. We give a good deal of information on both blades, please read and compare both if applicable.

It is worth mentioning that the manner in which the operator uses this type of machines! It is crucial to the quality of the performance and clip that the operator takes a "relaxed" approach to the clipping task! DO NOT rush the clipping and at all times allows the machine to glide through the coat, rather than attempting to push the clipper at a pace faster than it can cope.(This applies to most makes of clippers!) The operators hand should be an instrument of "guidance" NOT attempting to "push!" All too often those clipping appear to clip at a pace that is not commensurate with the blade - whether traditional or detachable, or what make of machine is used! This must be acknowledged and applied from the start!

Other factors such as individual length of a cutting stroke is crucial - short lengths, rather than long "blows" produce far better results than clipping in long "lawn mower" stripes. Criss cross clipping action in limited areas rather than open up extensive areas give a more professional finish. At all times the blade face must be flat to the animal's body surface. "Aquaplane" and the result may well be "tramlines!"

Frequent oiling of blades whatever machine used is essential too! Lubrication is the only way all makes of blades can keep cool and running producing a performance that gives a satisfactory clip. The Aesculap cordless clipper is no different! A small quantity of oil every 3/5 minutes should be the discipline! "A little and often!" should be the guideline.

VETERINARIANS
For the laboratory or veterinarian involved in clinical work - where reliability and continuous use is of paramount importance - a machine of this calibre will easily undertake large or small animal work whether in a university laboratory or busy surgery! The ability to be able to go "mains or cordless" with the same machine will for many a veterinary laboratory or practice be an attractive concept

LONG HAIRED CAT & RABBIT OWNERS:
Many machines are too noisy and may suffer from vibration with the result they seriously frighten the cat or rabbit, making future clipping difficult to say the least! Vibration for an already nervous animal purely adds to its panic! You can test a clipper for vibration by simply holding it to your cheek bone with the motor running! The new Aesculap FAV5 machines do not have a vibration problem and the motor tone is more acceptable to a nervous animal.

Cats are not one of the clipped species that are generally easy to handle and occasionally a cordless machine may offer the better option -that being the case with the "Hybrid" the opportunity to update to 100% battery power is an option that can at any time be taken up.

Many long haired cat or rabbit owners will find they need access to "detachable blades" to perform basic routine husbandry tasks satisfactorily! Our tests convinced us that the Aesculap Fav5 CL GT306 and Hybrid machines are perfect for clipping any of the many long haired and often highly nervous cat breeds.

The narrow A5 detachable blade range of various manufacturers' will allow you to a wide choice in blade selection for all nature of tasks you may wish or need to carry out! An ideal choice of blades also for those who have to tackle the daunting task of cutting away Matts from both long haired cats and rabbit breeds.

DOMESTIC PET RABBIT OWNERS:
The Aesculap "Hybrid" is perfect for routine and hygiene use necessary for many domestic pet breeds of both long and short haired rabbits. Its motor tone and size suiting your pet and you! Owners of rabbit breeds comprising of large numbers with a valuable commercial fibre, or requiring routine husbandry tasks will find this clipper perfect for all types of "body clipping, or fibre shearing", and the wide range of blades available can be used to cope with every requirement.

ANGORA GOAT SMALL FLOCK OWNERS:
The Aesculap "Hybrid" makes owning a quality machine highly affordable for the smaller flock owner! Light and compact, - select the right sized narrow or wide A5 blades and it is perfect for removing the valuable "coat" product of the Angora whether goat or rabbit. With a wide range of A5 detachable blades that can be selected for whatever the task confronting you, you will have no problem in seeking a solution to your needs.

ALPACCA SMALL STUD OWNERS:
Many small studs of alpacas with numbers below the necessity of owning a shear machine are successfully clipped or annually "sheared" with small detachable A5 blade type clippers. Generally with the lack of powerful cordless machines, mains machines have been used. Now the Aesculap FAV5 CL or the "more affordable" Aesculap Hybrid" offers the opportunity to clip what is not one of the easiest species to tackle- in either mains cordless mode! The smooth low tone notes of the FAV5/Hybrid are beneficial to the operator and perfect for your animals in ensuring that minimum stress is created. Using similar wide blades recommended for full body horse clipping and switching to a narrow blade where it is felt more suitable offers considerable flexibility.

+ Impressive light duty small clipper on most breeds of horses, certainly with the 2.3 mm steel wide blade one of the best of its type. Ideal for the nervous animal.

- Slightly limited range of existing wide blades. Rear positioned on/off switch.

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION :
The Moser "Horseline" Artiko is basically a cloned copy of the highly successful Moser Max 45 - one of the most powerful dog clippers on the market. However like the cordless version - the Moser "Avalon" it has been "seriously" up-graded to provide full body clipping for horses.

The Artiko inherits all the qualities of both the Max 45 and "Avalon" and when fitted with the supplied Moser 2.3mm #10F steel wide blade, will certainly often prove to be the difference between clipping or not on many a nervous animal.

With many horse breeds and resulting cross breeds occasionally one will meet with a coat texture which creates difficulties and in some case cannot be clipped successfully with the Moser "standard" 2.3mm blade. Other wide blades as referred to below are worth considering. Unfortunately results are difficult to predict without first attempting to clip. However In most cases the "standard" 2.3mm version of this blade will prove successful. One of the advantages of using detachable type blades is that the range is extensive - unlike the traditional livestock type blades. Therefore like the professional dog groomer the opportunity for experiment to find the best blade for your animal is possible.

When difficulty is experience, start with slowing down the speed at which you attempt to "push" the machine/blade through the coat hair. Success may often be achieved if you just "crawl" over the area avoiding the blades becoming clogged with hair. This may seem a bit of a "pain" but then presumably you are in the first instant using this type machine because a traditional machine is not for whatever reason acceptable to either you or your horse or both.

If this is not the case then clearly you should not be using the "Artiko" or similar type clippers, and should use a tradition heavy-duty unit.

Originally launched and supplied with a gun metal blue Moser detachable wide 2.3mm CeraBlade. This was a ceramic powder coated blade thought and claimed to give a longer clipping life by retaining its sharpness due to the applied ceramic coating.

The CERABLADE blade has been discontinued (2008)

The reason for the withdrawal of the "CERABLADE " was due to being unable to maintain a constant and perfect re-sharpening to the original standard as new and when supplied direct from MOSER in German. Unfortunately the coating of ceramic powder sprayed onto these blades at the time of manufacturer was found to interfere in certain instances with the lapping process when re-sharpening and this created a situation where certain individual blades (not all!) could not achieve MOSER sharpening standards.

Owners of the clippers or trimmers using the CERABLADE might consider not discarding the blade as normally after several re-sharpening processes it should revert to the original pure steel 2.3mm #10F "Standard" wide detachable Moser blade, losing its ceramic powdering on the sharpened face and would then be expected to thereafter re-sharpen to a professional cutting standard.

PLEASE NOTE: Initially for the first few occasions of re-sharpening variation in cutting performance and the clipping duration of individual blades should be expected to - and may well - vary between clips.

Today the "Artiko" is supplied with the Moser steel "standard" 2.3mm size #10F wide blade (our code: CB0208) (The original standard wide blade used before the advent of the CERABLADE) and which will cope perfectly (if correctly used) with most horse coats. This blade has been widely tested over a good number of years both in the UK and Europe and in our opinion is as good if not superior to the ceramic coated blade. Designed and manufactured as a blade specifically for full body horse clipper it has always been way ahead of any similar type blades when clipping horses or Alpacas.

Two other wide blades our test results found to be very successful on horses are the MOSER 2.3mm "Fine" #10F wide detachable blade (Product code CB0218) and the AESCULAP 2.4mm "Standard" #10W wide detachable blade (Product code CB0306)

Full details may be seen on our web pages:

Alternative makes of wide blades are available - not all have been specifically designed for horses and as such may give varying results. Moser narrow blades are some of the best available, and are suitable for any facial work, hogging and feathers. For leg feathers and hogging purposes use the Moser blades with a higher percentage of teeth!

Any breed of horse may from time to time present a clipping problem, and clips can and often do vary from season to season. The skill of clipping is knowing how to approach such problems! This is when the experienced operator has the advantage! When using "detachable" blade clippers a change in clipping attitude is needed! Fast clipping with long sweeping blows is OUT! All you will achieve is a blade - its teeth clogged with hair, and a good deal of frustration! Tramlines may appear as an added bonus!

Instead take a relaxed approach to the task, allow the machine to do the work, using your hand as a guide and not an instrument of pressure. By slowing down the speed at which you attempt to "push" the machine/blade through the coat hair you will achieve in most cases a perfect clip. Short clipping strokes are better and more effective.

With sticky greasy areas success can often be achieved if you just "crawl" over the area thus avoiding the blades becoming clogged with hair. This may seem a bit of a "pain" but then presumably you are in the first instant using this type machine because a traditional machine is not for whatever reason acceptable to either you or your horse or both. Hence speed is not essential!

When using the "detachable" blade style clippers one should be aware no matter how good they are they are not of the same power as a typical traditional type machines. Invariably one is using this type of clipper because the horse objects for whatever reason to a traditional noisy machine. Seen in this role as an alternative to not clipping or heavy sedation they are extremely valuable and with proper use and application perform as well as any traditional clipper, producing some quality clips on a range of horse or cattle breeds.

Practical experience as with most clipping of any animal is invaluable! Knowledge is never complete - no matter how experienced the operator! When doing full body clipping two blades are a wise precaution, just in case one suddenly goes blunt, which in fairness can happen with any make of clipper! For cattle or horse's heads and intricate parts of the legs (udders in the case of dairy cows) one can select a suitable blade from an extensive range of "narrow" blades.

Equipped with an efficient two-speed 45w motor, it has all the superior qualities associated with a quality German built product. The attractive style of the casing enhances a shaped handpiece, giving the combination of balance and lightness, which will be popular with many female users. Various features put this machine into a superior category, especially the ability to operate at two speeds and over prolonged periods without any signs of overheating. With a very acceptable noise level it is almost vibration free.

In keeping with most clippers an element of routine maintenance is required to maintain the clipper in peak performance. Drive tips do wear with constant use and clipper performance may become affected as a result - therefore routine checking of the tip for wear and if found subsequent replacement is recommended. Keeping clean and lubricated is a worthy discipline to follow! This is a routine job which owners will find well within their ability and requires no additional special tool.

Owners of the clippers or trimmers using the CERABLADE should not necessarily discard these blades as normally after several re-sharpening processes they lose the ceramic powdering on the sharpened blade faces and as such therefore revert to the original pure steel 2.3mm wide detachable Moser blade, and would then be expected to thereafter re-sharpen to a professional cutting standard.

PLEASE NOTE: Whilst we are happy to sharpen these blades for customers it should be understood and appreciated that initially for the first few occasions of re-sharpening variation in both cutting performance and the clipping duration of certain individual blades should be expected to vary between clips. We regret we cannot guarantee quality performance in every instance when re-sharpening "CeraBlades" until they have been done a number of times.

IMPORTANT - Please note:
The electrical machines we offer for sale are principally for use with the electrical supply system operation in the UK namely 240volt.

This machine is there equipped with a 240 motor and component parts and will have a supporting identification plate on the casing. In addition to working on the UK electrical system it can be used on any European 220/240 volt system.

However it is supplied with a UK 3-pin plug and therefore will need an appropriate "adaptor" plug into which the UK 3-pin will fit. Whilst these are not readily available to us they can be easily obtained at your local electrical outlet.
