Ceramic cutter blade - medium

Ceramic blades have been used for a considerable time both in the kitchen and in many industrial situations. They are said to remain up to ten times sharper than steel blades, with a very high hardness and wearing resistance factor, but on the downside they are extremely brittle!

A relatively new addition to the animal clipper blade range, It is said that ceramic blades after they have "bedded" in which is normally a period of about 8 hours on continual use perform to a better standard than steel blades and last longer. Ceramic blades are often described as being noisy for the initial "bedding in" period. (Although our production test model with a ceramic blade fitted was extremely quiet!)

Andis "CERAMIC EDGE" cutter blades are certified zirconium oxide blade with the following advantages:

· Higher durability, leading to longer sharpness
· A ceramic cutter blade will run cooler than a steel blade
· Features a smoother and faster cutting action
· Lower noise level after running in period

The single ceramic cutter blade can be purchased and used to replace the steel cutter blade, thus saving the cost of buying a new ceramic blade.

Fitting the ceramic cutter is a simple task and requires no special tools. First gently push the cutter blade of the selected blade to either the right or left hand side - about half way - not all the way so that it comes apart!

The using a small screwdriver inserted (with care) the tip of the screwdriver blade between the lower steel comb blade and the nylon sleeve of the tensioning spring. (Be careful not to dislodge the nylon sleeve as if you loose it the blade will cease to function! If dislodged they easily fit back over the metal lip of the spring)

Push the screwdriver tip right through and onto the raised steel lip of the steel comb blade. Now you can slide out your steel cutter and replace it with a ceramic one. When replacing, once the ceramic cutter is at the halfway point remove the screwdriver and push the cutter until it centres with the steel comb teeth.

When fitting the blade to the clipper head you may find it easier to have the motor running (If a two-speed machine, select the lower speed.)

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the brittle nature of the blade exercise care when fitting.
